Most of these anti-virus software's do nothing but bloat your PC. You don't really need anything more than Windows Defender and Malware Bytes.

Unless you visit sketchy sites and download almost anything and everything, definitely won't be needing McAfee.

A post like this is almost a rite of passage for any antivirus threads.

I was gonna reply and say this.

All you need are Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. The rest is common sense.

If you are gonna torrent, use virustotal before opening torrent files, and download from reputable public torrent trackers like 1 3 3 7 x.to, for example. There are a bunch of others.

I see no difference between virus and McAfee except latter you consent. It's like hire a gangster to protect from other gang

Is there still that 1990's McAfee FTP site with licensed versions?

Thumbs up if you know what I am taking about!

McAfee could pay me $29.99/yr and I still wouldn't install it.

Absolutely agree! Why pay for something which already comes with Windows? I don't see any advantage to add any bloatware to my PC. I actually didn't install McAfee, although it came free with my new Dell PC.

Well, at least it usually beats Windows Defender in the anti virus tests.
So, you have that going for you.

Realistically, you're probably using it because it came with your computer or you work for a company that uses Mcafee.
Get off of Mcafee. It stopped being good many, many years ago.

I moved my clients off of Mcafee at least 10 years ago and never looked back.
