This is much better dedicated Wheel cleaner. I believe hot rims is also potentially "bad" for some finishes of wheels... do your research on that but in general this is up there with Sonax and Sonax is typically $20/bottle with less volume.

I've used both. I think it depends on the finish of your wheel. On a darker and painted wheel I found Megs to be more abrasive in removing brake dust deposits. And IIRC Sonax bottles are less volume so more $/mL. YMMV but I would say this is a overall more superior product.

IT's been confirmed on another forum from Meguires that Ultimate Wheel Cleaner can be used as an iron remover and is safe on paint. but I would totally test that out first to be sure, never know these days with the thin paint formulas of new car paints these days compared to 40yrs ago. That's why its so hard to come by right now. cheapest iron remover you can buy.
You should rinse your wheels before you spray any chemicals on them.

I tend to stay away from wheel cleaners and just use soap and water. On painted/clearcoated wheels in good condition and well cared for (i.e. cleaned often), there's no need to use "wheel cleaners" really. Just use the same thing you wash the car with (just use a separate bucket, sponge/cloth, and wash and rinse the wheels before the rest of the vehicle).

However wheel cleaners that change colour (like this) are indeed the ones that contain iron remover and yes this will work as an iron remover on the rest of your paint--it's probably more useful for that than cleaning wheels TBH.

Bought the same on amazon.ca on 24 may for a *standard price* of 12.42.

Misleading original price. Savings of only 75 cents.
