[Amazon.ca] Motorola G8 Play - $181.33 no tax

Motorola G8 Play for $181 taxes in. Picked up one up for fathers day, yes it's a mediatek CPU and definitely no flagship but more than good enough for most parents. Reviews seem good for the price.

Tempting, but 32 GB of storage is pretty much a deal breaker these days.

For a budget phone with microsd slot, 32GB should be adequate

The Play has a MediaTek Helio P70M – 2.0 GHz Octa-Core processor and a 4000mAh battery. This phone has 2GB RAM and total storage 32GB, with a microSD card slot that supports up to 512GB additional storage.

Tempting. How good is the camera?

This seems like a better option than the $130ish Umidigi A7 Pro that you will have to wait two months to get. Umidigi camera is crap.

If the camera is fairly good I might bite on this as a backup phone. In Ontario the price is equivalent to $160 plus HST.

How is the support for Canadian networks? I see the band information listed on the Amazon page, but I've forgotten how to decifer those numbers...

I would not be happy with this phone in a rural setting, not much for 700 mhz. Does band 66, so decent for freedom mobile

I would say last year's Xiaomi redmi 7 with the snapdragon 632 is a better deal. 3gb/32gb + Qualcomm processor.

Thoughts? There are so few good deals on prepaid phones in this country.

I'm using a Redmi Note 5 Pro and this Moto would be a downgrade for me.

But is this the best deal for a buy outright (without carrier sign up), low end phone right now?

Where does one get one of those Redmi phones at a competitive price and not have to order from China? If there are options available, I'd definitely go for one of those.

The G7 Play at Costco might be a better deal. $204.99, but you get the Costco return policy.

This is the GSM only version. There is another version that has the remaining bands i believe.
