Sigh... Damn RFD, now I'm out $450 as this pushed me to actually move forward with a build I was sitting on.

Take your darn upvote.

i tried this board with 4x8gb of patriot viper steel 3200mhz and it worked completely fine at XMP
I didn't mix them, I tried them each alone. I figured it was a specific thing with that particular series of RAM and this motherboard, but since yours is fine maybe it's only above a certain speed in that series, or different revisions, who knows. I also returned and tried a second motherboard so it wasn't a one off situation.

I have the motherboard working fine with different RAM, just wanted to mention my experience.

Same at Newegg. Bought three weeks ago from Newegg at $109.99. Anyone know if it's worth trying to get a price adjustment?

It won't work, but I would be curious to see what they say.

Been using this motherboard since last December, first with an r3 3100 and currently an r7 3700x with 2x16gb 3600mhz team force ram, 5600xt. Nothing overclocked, but stable, no issues ever since day one. Has enough fan headers if you use fan hubs/need more than 3 fans.

Is there any reason to consider the B550-A board over this?? I'll be pairing with a Ryzen 5600x and Ballistix 3600. Some of the reviews for the MicroATX version make me nervous.

Edit: decided to go for the B550-A board which is also on sale for about $50 more. Looks like much better VRM quality on the A board which I'm happy to shell out a bit more for considering I'll likely be using this system for at least the next 5 years. Good review below that shows the B550-A offers rival performance to the B550 Tomahawk

B550 A-Pro indeed has better vrm. Also has wifi if that matters to you.
Where did you purchase the 5600x? I have been looking for a deal on that cpu.

I just pulled the trigger on Amazon. I've been using an FX-8350 for the last 7 years so figured I deserve it :)

What I need to know is will the graphics of the 5600G go through the HDMI port? Most of these B550 boards say they're incompatible with onboard GPUs.

From what I understand any B550 or B570 should support the 5600G with a bios update but best to check the board compatibility list

This board box says it doesn't support 3200G and 3400G, FYI.

It's possible this was addressed in firmware later, but who knows.

We're pretty sure this works with the 5600G after firmware update.

Yes, it works with the onboard HDMI port but you'll need to flash the latest bios first.
