<2/10 star user rating on Metacritic across the platforms for good reasons (excessive casino style microtransactions for one). Also worth noting it's currently free with Xbox Game Pass.

Hope you enjoy it and sorry if this bursts your bubble at all, just hoping to warn folks that might care about that stuff!

EDIT: Seems the microtransactions have been toned down in recent patches. May be worth looking into...

Despite the bad reviews, this is still a solid basketball game and IMHO the story mode is not as cheesy as everyone says it is - it's about on par with the previous years' games.

My biggest issue with the Switch version though, is the fact that you have to be online ALL THE TIME to play any part of the game - this means no taking it out anywhere with no Wifi AND if you put the Switch to sleep you will be sent back to the title screen when you resume. This is totally annoying and defeats the purpose of having it on the Switch.

The deal isn't available on Amazon USA or Canada. It is available for $20 online only at Best Buy Canada, though a $35 minimum is required for free shipping.

Wow that’s disgusting. What a deal breaker! Thanks for sharing this key point. Not that I’ll be taking my Switch on any road trips anytime soon, but that hop back to the title screen would get frustrating fast.

So by online all the time, is that just for online mode(vs other players) or how about the regular mode(simulation)?

You need to be online for both online play and single player modes. I never played the online modes, just the career and GM modes, and I needed to be online all the time; couldn't play Mycareer on the Go train.
It's been a while, but I may have been able to play exhibition matches offline, but definitely could not be offline for the modes where you can use VC to boost your players or stats - that includes all of the MY modes.

Playing single player myplayer mode... i finish game,, sometime's it says you lost internet connection, so my single player game crashes and i lose all the progress for that game. Frustrating. Also you cannot sleep your switch in almost any mode. The load times on the Switch are ATROCIOUS, takes literally 5 minutes+ to get into a single game.

The only mode for complete offline is Quick Play.

2K19 is last NBA game i buy on switch that's for sure.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I just wanna hoop. Looks like I will wait for 2k21 to see if they fix some of the online stuff.

I got nba playground for quick play but it has it's own problems that make gameplay not enjoyable.
