FYI crystal decanters are usually leaded which will leech lead into any liquid you put in it.
Do not leave any liquid for consumption in leaded crystal decanters for more than 1/2 hour.

traditional crystal is leaded glass.

Unless something is declared as unleaded crystal (which would make it not real crystal), I would not trust putting liquids in for a long time.
