Nikon 20067 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6 G AF-P VR Lens $258.87

Thanks OP, haven't bought a new lens for 5 years. Got a D7500 so it will work, my D5100 is SOL but I generally use that one with a telephoto.

Too bad it's a cheap plastic mount, but for wide angle I have not seen one at this price. I shoot landscapes and gardens, always want to go wider but not fisheye.

in general, i think the average person uses 10-20mm (wide angle) about 10% or less of the time.
it may be only $260...but most of the time it just sits there in your bag.

that was my main concern...i rarely take landscape photos.... but i j/ happened to have the oppoturnity to go to Banff/Lake Louise very shortly.

I really like a 20mm on FF for landscapes. I have this for my D7200.

Why consider downgrading? The 10-20 is 4.5-5.6G, not a set 4G like the 12-24. The 12-24 has been my go-to lens for the past 10 years, mostly shooting landscapes in the mountains

Landscapes can be taken with any focal length. It really depends on what and how you like to shoot. I love ultrawide for my landscapes and I mostly shoot landscapes so it's on my body more than 50%.

For most people who shoot that wide, the difference between 4 and 4.5-5.6 is not really noticeable. The big difference between the two (besides going a good deal wider on the 10-20) is the VR on the 10-20 as it will allow you to lower that shutter speed down and still get a decent shot.

To make sure I understand correctly, it was not double boxed? If that is the case its shady AF. Weird since it was shipped and sold by Amazon....

Nope it was shipped directly in the Nikon box

Yes the tape was clearly done by hand, and not machine applied, so clearly either a mix up at the warehouse, or someone along the delivery chain opened it. Inside was just the cardboard dividers - lens, case, hood, and papers were missing along with the associated plastic wraps.

I had to double-check my invoice: "Sold by: Amazon.com.ca, Inc."

It also wasn't a warehouse item that was offered at the same time.

edit: so this is interesting:

Never knew they did this (but makes sense though).

Quick update here, mine arrived, not double boxed. It looked shady AF as nothing was really sealing the box in any way. Anybody could have just opened the tab, taken out everything in the box and closed it back up. Mine however is intact all items are present, box, warranty card and lens serial numbers match. But no double boxing for a DSLR lens, that is quite shitty.

Just wanted to share. Mine arrived yesterday and there is no seal as usual to the actual nikon box. But looks like everything is there in looking new appearance. But the box was put inside the waterproof amazon shipping cover.
