It is not close. Cellphone pictures have been getting better and better, but ultimately there's an optical physics constraint - bigger lenses and bigger sensors result in better pictures. You can try to use computer software and creative engineering to help offset it, but you never fully will. Doesn't mean you have to care enough about taking photos to buy a dedicated camera, and doesn't mean that the dedicated camera industry hasn't shrunk (it has), but for people who really enjoy photography as a hobby or take photos professionally a dedicated camera is a must.savercanuck91 wrote: ↑Nov 14th, 2019 3:08 am$2000 bulky camera vs. $900 Pixel 4 XL... It only makes sense to buy a D750 if you already have a lot of F-mount glass. Even with the savings, I think most people are better to wait for BF and buy into a mirrorless platform. Well... actually *most* people are probably better off with a good phone, however, if you're reading this thread you're probably not most people. I strongly prefer an EVF and quiet shutter. If you know you want an OVF the D750 still packs good quality, though it has shutter shock that may reduce image quality in some situations.

Love these troll posts from people that have no idea what they're talking about and no understanding of optics / lighting etc.savercanuck91 wrote: ↑Nov 14th, 2019 3:08 am$2000 bulky camera vs. $900 Pixel 4 XL... Weird how upset people get about cameras. They actually feel deeply insulted that some people want a dedicated camera with advanced technology, a huge light sensor, premium glass, and long zoom, instead of just using their phone.
Sure you can take great pictures with your phone. But why are you so bothered by people needing cameras to also take great pictures?

This is a warm deal for those who shoot Nikon. I don't think i'd choose Nikon as a full frame DSLR system these days though... Canon EF is better as the electronics in those lenses are much more easily adapted to Sony, if you choose to switch later. This also gives Canon lenses a higher resale value.

Yeah, sell it as the value of Nikon DSLR dropping fast, the body is already under $1000 on the used market. This is not a great time of year to be selling your gear though with all the Black Friday sales.. Probably better to sell in January / Feb.

If you were buying with the anticipation to switch to Sony down the line, you would probably be better off buying a Sony right now. As time goes on, the lead that Sony has in its mirrorless systems will diminish. I’m currently running with an A7Riii and the d850 and I can honestly say that I prefer the 850 at this point. Mirrorless cameras aren’t great, but they are not for everyone.Kurtz7834 wrote: ↑This is a warm deal for those who shoot Nikon. Sony lenses are just way too expensive. Canon 6D and a bunch of cheap great EF lenses for me, for now.Midnight91 wrote: ↑Nov 14th, 2019 9:56 amIf you were buying with the anticipation to switch to Sony down the line, you would probably be better off buying a Sony right now. You're using bodies that are $3000+ so you probably don't have the same financial constraints.

I'm not sure if this was a Hot Price, but it was definitely Warm. This price will likely be back by Black Friday.
Keep an eye on this kit on Kijiji, lots of D750s on the resale market and I'm sure there are some great deals.

Probably a good idea. I keep telling myself I'll eventually get back into photography since I have so much money invested in it, but haven't touched it in over 2 years.

I think it was a hot price. A very good camera with a better than decent lens. That's not bad for under $2000. I invested in lenses first that's why I'm looking body only but if i didnt have lenses I would have jumped on that price.
