A sale is a sale, but I'll get the OLED model and spend the extra $70 in difference (not including tax in the math) for the bigger OLED screen and 64 GB storage vs the 32 of current Switch.

If the price difference was more like $100 (so at $350), it could be worth considering it since you can get the Switch right now VS in October trying to get one with limited quantities before the scalpers grab them all with their bots.

yes, OLED will be nicer but if you want to get the switch now, this is your best bet. Limited edition versions of Nintendo consoles/handhelds are always worth more to collectors in the future so when you go to re-sell it this will be worth more than the regular switch and probably even the OLED version.

If the Animal Crossing version was hackable, I would consider selling my gen1 and swapping for this. But the ability to mod my current system is worth waaaaay more than any theme or neat joycon colours

Note to anyone not familiar, the Animal Crossing edition does not actually come with the game itself. It's just a special colorway.

Also don't think the AC version garners any special resale value. It has had plenty of stock at most retailers for a long time.

It's true. This used to be a hot item and was being sold for almost a K on eBay. It's everywhere now to the point where Amazon had to lower the price a bit. Not worth the purchase tbh since OLED is coming out. I'm happy with my first gen hackable switch as well.

Yeah it's one of the few special editions that hasn't risen in value, guess they made a lot of them. Only buy it if you really like Animal Crossing.

Yeah this thing just keeps getting restocked. It's a bit amusing to see the Kijiji scalper ads re-appear over and over with each stock cycle :).

Nintendo is the only company that can get away with selling a game edition console without the actual game lol

Maybe collectors can finally breath a sigh of relief. Nintendo might actually stop producing them unless they come out with the AC OLED version. Face With Tears Of Joy

The new oled switch has a bigger screen at the same 720p. Your gaming experience might be worse if handheld especially it's heavier. I'd get the reg swtich from the bonus redemption event from shoppers this weekend or wait for some review before pre-orderring the oled one. The oled switch shouldn't have much manufacturing limits like ps5 or vidoe cards as it doesn't use new chips.

***Right now. But I guarantee you this will change once it's out of production and for sure in a generation or two the price will skyrocket. Look at the 3DS special editions. They were basically the same price as the regular versions but now they are 2-3x the price. Trust me, once these are no longer made, stupid collectors will pay crazy amounts for one. If you want a good investment buy one, keep it sealed, and sell it in 10 years

You might as well buy $400 of Nintendo stock or other investments. The return might not be as high but the liquidity will be much better and there is also a convenience yield in that 2-3x price.

They had so many of these over Xmas at my local Wal-Mart that they were all going for $300. Was waiting until my mom left town to get one (don't own a switch but don't really need a new gaming system, lol) but they jacked the price back up to a regular $399 in February.. Missed out. Still lots here. Can't see me paying full-price. Go back down or cheaper, please..

He sure did hold a gun to his head. I got my switch through SDM. I had to wait. The guy who bought his didn't. Pay for what you want.

When the reason the guy couldn’t get one was some loser bought a bunch to resell for 3x the price it’s a little different. I get what you’re saying but it’s objectively a shitty thing to do, nonetheless brag about months later lol.
