[Amazon.ca] Noctua NH-D15 chromax.Black 129.95$

The black, chromax, version of the NH-D15 is on sale on Amazon.ca.
Regular price is 149.95CAD, sale price is 129.95CAD. I think it's a rare occasion for this to go on sale, enjoy it.

It's just the black model of the Noctua NH-D15 (very good cooler that is comparable to a water cooler). Same performance, higher price. For those that actually care what the inside of your computer looks like instead of just performance.

Possible that there are still Linustechtips models in stock so you get extra orange accents and not just the regular black ones

I wish these would have come out before I bought my Dark Rock Pro 4. The pro looks better, but a bit worse performance... 3900x can use all the cooling it can get haha.

Yep, Amazon delivered mine Friday and it was the Linus model with both black and orange accents.

is it me or has noctua fans gotten more expensive over time?
maybe i have false memory, but i swear NH-D15 back when ncix sale would got for under 100$.
my NH-U12 i believe i got on sale at ncix for 60 or 70$, but it's 110$ on amazon...
I know these are the black models and they cost slightly more, and that I'm sure they've made tweaks over the years, but still

Waiting for the D15S version. Can't use the top PCIe slot with the regular D15 since my GPU has a super thick back plate.

Considering I am rocking the 3900x with the Noctua NH-D15. Yes, its a good match. Just make sure your case has the room.

I got mine today; it's still the Linus Tech Tips special edition.

Checked the order confirmation for my NH-D14 from 2012. It was $66 from Memory Express.

Still going strong btw, would highly recommend (I think the 14 and 15 are pretty much the same).

I should have bought this damn thing in the first place enstead of trying to create a custom water cooling loop which worked perfectly before the pump started making stupid noises twice over. $450 down and I still want this just to be done with it.

Used to be consistently under $100 as others have said but haven't seen that price in a year or more

If i may ask.. what is the appeal/rationale for these giant fans/heatsink? in real life testing, it is probably few celcius difference

I've been building PCs since 486s and also built over 2000 PCs(not kidding)

the difference between intel i5-9600k ($349) vs i7-9700k ($500) = $150

i've seen people spending 150-200 on cooling, why not just buy a faster CPU?? (few posts above mine, another rfder spent $400 on cooling)
Unless you are doing a lot of video encoding, CPU is usually not the bottleneck anyways, it is your GPU..

so... i don't really get it.. might as well put that money towards better GPU
to me... overclocking is overrated

You can bring a cpu cooler with you for multiple builds. Noctua will even send you a mounting bracket for free if your new mother/platform does not support the current cpu cooler mounting methods.
Also Noctua is a very well respected brand which people would not mind paying extra money for (me included).

It's incredible that we live in a time when CPU cooler costs $130 and it's considered a deal.

Not a cpu... A cpu cooler
