[Amazon.ca] Oculus Rift S $550 - In Stock

Posting for people who are looking for one as its been mostly out of stock.

Not essentially a deal but this has been sold out everywhere and scalpers are selling it for 750+.

I have been waiting on stock at oculus website as its 550 including taxes but they haven't stock it in a while. I ordered it from amazon now to avoid waiting.

My PC isn't fast enough for this. :(

What's the cheapest I could get a good enough one for these days? Really want to get into VR.

Get a Oculus quest if you don't want to upgrade your PC.

Damn looks like there was a deal for that 2 weeks ago. I like the idea of no wires. Is 64gb enough though?

I heard 64gb was enough and not worth the cost for the extra storage. There really isn't any deals on these because they are often sold out. With that being said, the best "deal" is to order direct from Oculus because they don't charge any tax.

Check the popular games sizes and see. How many games would you need at one time. Looks like lots of people are going with 64GB. Note that this headset will be like mobile gaming more than pc VR. Until you purchase the oculus cable to connect to the PC but you will get some adjusted resolution to manage the bandwidth.
Stay strong, situation always looks harder and that it will never end when you are in the middle of it, but remember past experiences, everything has an ending.

Thanks for the tip! Time to do a little more homework on the Quest now.

I use one of these for sim racing. 10/10 would recommend, blows triple monitors out of the water.

You buy the lenses after, noone sells it built-in since it's useless if your prescription changes or someone else wants to use it.

Examples:

No problem. I originally wanted a Valve Index, then considered the Quest or Rift S. Now I will wait it out for either the Index to get stocked/deal, next gen hardware, or when there are more that one AAA game. I built my PC on the bleeding edge and I want my mind blown when I finally get into VR. Not counting my PSVR.

I have also ordered prescription lens inserts from WidmoVR and I'm very satisfied with them. They double as lens protectors and very easy to snap on and off.

Amazon changes tax.... if you live in Ontario or another province with high taxes, you might want to hold off and wait for facebook to restock.

That was my plan. I'm a big half-life fan, and I was ready to get the Index to play, but it's unavailability has me potentially waiting for something next before investing. If the Index does gets stocked, or an unlikely deal, I would buy.

I've been subscribed to stock notifications for the Rift S from oculus.com for a month and I haven't received anything. It also takes about half a month to ship from Oculus when there's no Covid going around, so have fun waiting for that. Good luck if you want to go that route.

Is the Rift S just an Oculus branded Lenovo explorer? Thinking about upgrading my explorer but spec wise they look pretty identical. Besides the Oculus ecosystem any reason why this would be worth while?

Way better than Lenovo explorer. Better tracking (5 cameras vs 2,) better controllers, passthrough+ camera, built in audio / mic, Oculus optimizations. Lots more advantages over WMR.

Had a Lenovo for a week before I returned it, the optics and sweet spot is horrible compared to even my OG Rift.
