[Amazon.ca] OOS/Dead || Prime Day Deal - Acer Swift 3, 14'' FHD IPS, Ryzen 7 4700U, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, *759.00* + tax

Someone I know is looking for a laptop in the $700-800 budget range. I think it's an okay deal, but I'd like to know what others think.

Note: RAM is soldered and not upgradable.

Reviewers have mentioned nvme ssd is upgradable.

Update: Deal appears to be over

Thanks for sharing! I was actually looking at laptops in this price range.
I heard the CPU is great, 8-core and Radeon integrated isn't that bad, but...
A lot of people say the display is really bad. Not bright enough.
I believe the ram is soldered, so you're stuck with 8 GB.
No thunderbolt 3, just USB-C (because AMD)

Your text to link here...
The asus has last year's 3700 processor.
Normally,a year is not a big deal, but it is for amd. as their current processors are leaps and bounds better, and the current best bang for your buck on the market.

Works for me. I use Linux and play legacy games so 8gb is all I need. This will be leaps and bounds ahead of my current a10-8800 HP laptop. Will miss the ethernet port. That can be a lifesaver.

I picked up the Acer Swift 3 i5-8265 8GB 256SSD for $599 ... wondering if the $160 difference is worth the Ryzen 7 4700u chip and the 512SSD?

The 4700u is faster and has better graphcis. But if all you do is office/internet stuff, it wont make a difference.

FYI it's back on pre-order for november, at teh Prime price. You can always order now, and cancel later if you change your mind.

typing for this laptop right now. I am very happy with it, it's snappy, screen is not as bad as reviews say, it's quite good tbh. I will be selling my 2020 macbook air which I paid almost 3x the price. This one is much much faster and I dont care about MacOS anymore. iphone+mac integration is much worse than windows+android nowadays
