Weird. I didn't know there were items that are cheaper only with Amazon Prime.

JMS583 chipset. I don't think it's the most reliable.

I'd recommend one with the Realtek chipset like the Sabrent enclosure. That one goes down to $30 periodically. Just an extra $10 and it's worth saving a lot of potential headache.

I had an Orico with the JMS583 before and it kept crashing macOS finder under sustained writes. Had issues with the Xbox series as well.

Ideally, you want an NVME with RAM because the NVME can not access system RAM through USB.

that's right even my test results are similar.. whether i use any high end enclosure.or the cheapest unbranded one's Read and Write is around 850-900mbps. This comparison iam making is between any cheaper enclosure VS the Sabrent $40 one..so it's better to save some money.

we actually don't need DRAM on an NVME unless we are writing 1/2 a terabyte data at once... 99.9% users won't be writing that amount of data at once.

NVME uses its own flash memory for indexing which actually is the same purpose of having a DRAM..

to conclude the purpose of having a DRAM on a SSD is actually being met on a DRAM less NVME's in a cost effective way it's just that people are not aware..we will see more DRAM less NVME's taking over the market in future

but if someone is moving 1/2 a Terabyte of Data all at once they would need a DRAM
