[Amazon.ca] Orico USB-C to HDMI/VGA/USB-A Switch/Adapter

After picking up their multi-device charger product I've been receiving more coupon codes from Orico here and there. I haven't received this adapter yet, but the price was hard to beat and the previous products I bought from them have been worthwhile.

Apply coupon code R5AHX57T to bring the list price of $48.99 down to $19.59. Doesn't seem to be unique as my coworker also picked one up.

I've been looking for a USB-C adapter with USB-PD passthrough for my MacBook (only 1 USB-C port) - this is certainly much cheaper than the Apple adapter. Other HDMI adapters in the $20-30 range generally don't have power passthrough.

solid price for a usb c hub. doesn't have everything (sd card reader, ethernet), but for $20 can't really complain.

Too bad it only has 1 USB, but display + power passthrough is awesome.

On the HDMI port, can it do 4K at 60Hz?
Most hubs of this type only support 4K@30Hz.

But the pass through also seem limited, not sure if it can handle the 87W charger for the MacBook Pro.

The 15-inch MacBook Pro that uses the 87W charger has for USB-C posts. IIRC, even Apple recommends you plug in the 87W charger directly to your 15-inch MacBook Pro when you use their USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter.

Great deal. Too bad my phone (ASUS zenphone 3) doesn't support HDMI out through the USB c port ☹️

100%
I just built a Ryzen 3600 with a pair of GT710 that has VGA.

I also use it quite often at hotels when travelling because VGA just works.

Can anyone answer this question:

Does a USB C hub (such as the one in this post) work as intended if it is plugged into a proper Thunderbolt port?

Or do I need a proper Thunderbolt Hub when trying to utilize a Thunderbolt port?

So would this adapter allow you to hook up another external monitor on a desktop that has usb c? (While another monitor is hooked up to the video card output)
Wallet safe
