I have this toothbrush. The brushing is fantastic but the heads are expensive. It also has an app which is really good and tracks your brushing patterns and what areas you miss, etc.

Or you could literally just buy one that’s $30 from the same brand and it literally does the same thing without stupid stuff like an app.

No idea if they have improved it since, but I had issues with this model some years back where the buttons stopped working due to dried up gunk that had collected in the gaps between the buttons and the housing. This also seemed to eventually affect the motor.
They have tried to make this brush very sleek / nice looking but they cut some corners in the process. Personally, I don't care about the looks (it's a toothbrush!) and would rather have something with longer durability. I found the best model in terms of value for money was the one they sell at Costco in the warehouse for $135-ish (for two - on sale now actually and can be ordered online for a slightly higher price). Yes, it is a more basic model, but how many modes, etc do you need/will you actually use? This one had better sealing around the buttons and I didn't experience the breakdowns that I did with the Diamond clean.

You are talking about the "Philips Sonicare Diamondclean Smart" , the deal OP posted is for the classic model, without any "Smart" fonctions.

Get the cheapest toothbrushes. Most Bluetooth stuff is all gimmick and worse yet, they start getting mold and rust (regardless of how you treat them), especially oral b.

As an added plus, I don't have to download an app for this toothbrush. Face With Tears Of Joy

I believe this is the Classic model without the Bluetooth functionality.

I believe the cheapest one doesn't use the sonic care brushing action, so the cheapest option is the protectiveclean 4100 which is about 50$, but you are right that the difference between the 4100 and the one is OP is negligible if you are just brushing your teeth. Its over double the cost for modes most people never use, and a glass cup charger.

I paid $135 through Amazon, last year on or around Black Friday. I must say it's worth it. Brush heads are expensive. :(
Just checked, looks like it's still the same price.

I've been using Sonicare for about 15 years. Have to agree that they've gone downhill. The buttons will indeed fail, and the motors will start to skip "brush cycles", so they effectively move less.

I now consider Sonicare to be the Logitech of the toothbrush world. Saving money by making cheaper parts. It isn't good for the reputation in the long run. Hopefully they start stepping up their game.

Sarcasm. You would either have to load the toothpaste the night before and then it would splatter everywhere or turn it off to load the tooth paste before putting it in your mouth which would defeat the "already on" feature. Face With Tears Of Joy

Costco has a 5-Pack of the brush heads for $39.99 when they are on sale (Regular $49.99).

Great toothbrush. Mine is still going strong after 3 years. The brush heads usually last 4-6 months.

If you are on the fence about this go for it. Never seen it cheaper than this!

Bought my DiamondClean in 2016. Head starting getting loose a couple months ago, and didn't seem to be cleaning as well (even with a new head).

Replaced it with just a 4100 and that squeaky clean feeling is back. Plus, it fits in the case of my old one too, so win win (doesn't charge though).

To counter the FUD in this thread, I've used Sonicare for 20 years, and none have broken. On Amazon all the Sonicares have 70-80% perfect 5-star reviews.

The Bluetooth version, which this is NOT, tracks how badly you brush, so that you can improve.

That said, you don't need to spend extra for the fancier models, because NYT Wirecutter says the cheap model is just fine:
