[Amazon.ca] Polk Audio Atrium 4 Outdoor Speakers - $144.98 ($49.14 off)

If you are looking to pimp out your patio these speakers are a great addition.

Don't believe the reviews complaining about bass - plenty of bass for outdoors - unless you don't like your neighbors. I installed them - and they sound GREAT.

Note - they aren't wireless, and require a hardwired speaker cable connection to an amp (preferable a bluetooth enabled amp) but you don't need to worry about recharging.

I thought there were 4 outdoor speakers - but this is a pair. Looks like its a Model number.

But this looks like it was built for a tank - solid.

Which amp/receiver did you pair with these?

I've got a set of these at the cottage, powered by a 40-year-old JVC amp and routed through a zoned volume control thing, and they're great for that purpose. Considering getting another set to add to the surround sound outside lol.

I have a Denon AVR-X4300H, hooked them up as a Zone 2. I'm able to stream airplay or bluetooth sources to just this zone - works great!

But there are quite a few lower end bluetooth amps available on Amazon.

This one looks like it may fit the bill:

The Yamahas will have better bass as they use a much larger woofer (6.5 vs 4.5). The Polks will probably have better overall sound quality. The Yamahas also have a port so they may not be well suited to uncovered spaces where water can get in.

I would grab the Yamaha.
Costco warranty and 1" tweeter, 6.5" mid for Yamaha vs .75" tweeter, 4.5" mid for the Polk.

I bought 2 of these, paid $149 on Amazon in April, and 3 older outdoor speakers all wired underneath our deck connected to a Pioneer receiver I bought on kijiji for $25 housed in a deck box. It has a Logitech bluetooth adapter and we run Spotify premium off our phones. That was a lot cheaper and more soundstage than 2 Sonos Moves. While they lack bass, pounding tunes would make my neighbors hate us. We really like the immersive sound and I put the speakers strategically and at different heights including inside our gazebo at the top. I would recommend 4 or more if it’s in your budget.

I also added a smart plug so we can turn the system off/on remotely.

I got the atrium 6 speakers (pair) for 260 on Amazon. I think the only difference was a bit deeper base. Overall very happy with the sound quality of the atrium line!

I paired it with Amazon basics 14 gauge wire and I purchased this receiver for the garage - Sony STR-DH190 and plugged in a google chrome cast audio.

I leave the receiver always on (not sure if this is good or not - anyone?) and I can cast from my Spotify like all my other google home speakers!

Plug it into an outdoor smart plug. Use your phone or voice Alexa/Google to power off/on.

I bought the aw294's from best buy for 130 about a month ago and am happy with them. Powering them with a little Aiyama bluetooth amp that gets them plenty loud. Haven't heard the Polk's but for what they are the Yamaha's sound great.

I was surfing ebay the other day and saw them from Yamaha refurb for $90 https://www.ebay.ca/itm/164944931161 , that's a great deal too.

For those with an old amp kicking around, you could also get one of these:

https://www.amazon.ca/LiNKFOR-Converter ... 70&sr=8-12

To allow your receiver to stream from your phone - Thinking about doing this so that I don't have to downgrade my X4300's 9.2 channel setup to 7.1.

No idea about the Yamaha’s but have a Polk system/sub in the basement from 2008, and 2 of our old outdoor speakers are Polk. Great speaker maker unless production has changed.

I have Atrium 4 and Patio 25 that Costco used to carry that I think are similar to Atrium 6. I use an old amp and 8” sub in a covered area outside. I enjoy listening to music outside more than inside as sound seems to ‘breathe’ better outside. I find the 4’s a little thinner than the Patios, but all in all they are great for the price and have been rocking outside for over 10 years.

Note that Bestbuy has the same price and even an open box in black for $110 - that’s a sweet deal.

Makes sense, but when you cut hard power and restore, don’t you still need to turn on the receiver?

I read online that leaving an amp on all the time isn’t bad for it (just uses a tiny bit of electricity)

Aiyama a07, its not on amazon CA right now though. Nice little unit, my wife wont let me turn it up more than about half.

edit: I got https://www.aiyima.com/collections/blue ... ma-b2d1692 which is the bluetooth version of the a07
