Been using this for 2 years now on a costco sandisk 64gb card. Both work flawlessly. Purchased at $59 at the time.

Do you recommend? I would like a new dash cam that can record clear license plate during day and night time, and fast moving objects, hows the video quality on the Yi?

Might be asking a little too much for a $50-70 cam. On a clear day, the video quality is nice. You need to be pretty close to have a clear shot of license plates. Night time? Forget about it.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the cam. Has GPS and lets you know the speed you are traveling at as well.

Not 4k recording. It is scaled up from 1080p ish pixels. These fake 4k cams are good at 1080p 60fps but anything more than that will be blurry and choppy as the fps drops so bad. Their statements is all b.s. and there are so many shills trying to say otherwise.

Best bet is to go get one and test it out yourself. I am returning my toguard ce52 4k (fake 4k) after 3 weeks of trying. Not worth the msrp. Although ive got it at lightning deal for $55 all in, i feel it's durability is quite bad. Sometimes it doesn't turn on.

Waiting for the A129 pro to go on sale as it looks good from testers

If SD cards might not be fast enough to save 4K video, would they try to use a double SD in a striping RAID arrangement, if that's even possible?

Video is good, to read a license plate you'd need to be stopped right behind the vehicle. You're going to be hard pressed to find a budget camera you can routinely read moving plates on. You'd be looking in the $300 - $500 range.
