The wh1000xm3 is a hundred dollars cheaper if you're trying to save those dollars. Performance overall is comparable between the two models but the improved feature set makes the wh1000xm4 worth the price differential since their on sale. If you're hell bent on saving your money you can't go wrong with xm3's but if you can the mx4's are absolutely worth the extra hundred dollars. All compared between sale prices not regular price.
