I've been debating whether to start buying Purina ONE for my cat.

From what I gather, in general Purina isn't the best quality. But their Purina ONE line is their "premium" line. Anyone know if the food is high quality? Obviously it's not going to be as good as other food that are much more expensive, but around $25 for a huge bag seems like a good deal.

Also, anyone know how long a bag will last once opened? I plan on using a big clip to close the big. I don't want the food to become stale and I'd have to throw it out after awhile.

You can split it to smaller containers that are sealable, I use pails with lid for the dog food.

My 4 cats go crazy for the pruina one grain free. Its the only food I've found that my cats constantly eat and request for years now.

I got like 10 - 7kg bags last sale when they were like 8$ each

We have a dog that’s now 16 (Australian shepherd) that’s been on purina most of her life, without any medical issues that I can recall. It’s one of the foods our vet recommends even though they don’t sell it.
Our cat is nearly 20, also on purina.

I know there’s better food on paper, but not sure how much of a real difference it makes in quality of life or longevity. I don’t know if benefits of the top food have ever been proven scientifically. Dog food sites are almost a cult.
We had another dog (malamute) that was fed “better” foods like Wellness and Orijen, lived about the same years, but had some other health issues. Obviously, inconclusive experiences.

I suspect a dog eating purina still eats better than most of us do in our lives. ;)
I wouldn’t get the lowest product in their lineup though.

But imo, genetics have a bigger part in a dogs overall health than brand of food...fwiw, we’ve had better luck with mixed breeds (see above) than purebreds....our papered golden retriever cost as much as a car with all of her health problems by the time she expired at 10 of pancreatic cancer.
Of course if your dog has known health concerns, discuss it with your vet.
