Got mine on BF for $185...had some installation troubles...the doorbell wasn’t lighting up after installation. Was afraid I didn’t have enuf power from my doorbell transformer or perhaps I got a dud. But after leaving it for 2 days all connected - I came home one day and the ring was all lit up. Everything else worked pretty flawlessly after that. So be patient if yours doesn’t light up right away.

Pain to install it and had to get my electrician to come do it. But it works flawlessly now

Also bought during Cyber Monday for $185.
First unit was a dud, as it would power off after multiple rings.
Second unit working right out of the box and I'm currently waiting for the chime, as I went ahead and bought a larger 24v/50vac transformer; during the troubleshooting of the first unit.

Since you're an owner of one and a mod, do you think it would be possible to merge all posts later on, when the deals expires?
I can't find an official ring owner's thread and there's lots of good discussions across the many previous deal threads.

Can't stress enough, make sure you are getting 19v at the door bell and use a corner kit if you have IR reflections from the side wall, these are make or break essentials.
Latest firmware has fixed the night vision issue, and reduced the compression artifacts.
Good luck,

edit: a cheapo 16V-10VA transformer is sufficient (if your wiring is good), before changing to something bigger, make sure your wiring is rated to withstand it (to avoid fire hazard).
edit2: if you don't have a multimeter, consider picking up one for $15 from amazon (needed for debugging installations).

Will do so, no worries, I usually keep my thread updated, but missed last price change and thread was moved to expired.

Thanks! Parents wanted one after seeing the one I got on Cyber Monday in action and price is only $7 more than the all time low on Cyber Monday.

Ah thank you!! last question if I can abuse your generosity. As a rule of thumb, how can I determine if the cabling could handle a bigger door chime transformer, thinking of the Zenith one that can do 24V 20VA

Model # SL-125-01 https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.tri- ... 10404.html

would you recommend this transformer?

thanks aasoror!!

Your existing wiring is likely a 22AWG two conductor and can definitely handle 24v.
The transformer you linked is a good upgrade.
