The prices for these things haven't really fallen at all. I bought the 250 Gb 840 evo like 3 years ago for 105$. I would assume by now it should be at this price point for 500 Gb ones.

Yep, we can thank the "NAND shortage" for that. It's a pretty good price since it's regularly been $130-$140.

Should fit. Make sure you have a 2.5 inch drive.

They likely do not, however if you do not use your DVD drive you can buy a hardrive caddy and have two hardrive in your laptop. It's a swap I did a year ago and have no complaints.

I'd say I'll fit as long as the laptop uses SATA and not IDE
Edit: fixed autocorrection errors...

Some of the drives are a bit thicker and than can cause a problem. I installed the 500gb version in a laptop last year and it fit fine.

Just make sure the laptop is compatible, tried this on the above laptop and it wouldn't recognize the drive.

Confirmed with Amazon support chat. The agent said that if Samsung Canada wouldn't honour the warranty, that I couldn't expect any warranty support. I've asked Amazon.ca to look into it further, but I've heard quite a bit about Samsung being *very* flaky with Canadian customers.

I've also heard that Samsung Canada is clueless about warranty, and that their warranty is handled by a Samtack in Canada.

If you want to roll the dice with a purchase, best to check with Samtack (Samsung's 3rd party warranty provider for Canada).
