Not lowest price ever, this was on RFD a few weeks ago for $189 through Newegg on ebay with free ship. You can till order this at $189.99 to save yourself $10 plus free ship (note the amazon link has plus $10 shipping fee making that deal $209.99 unless you have a cc store for pick up).

your welcome

forgot about ebay! good call. i prefer amazon but thats newegg so its fine. only reason i thought it would be a decent buy today as you can still file for pricematch if it drops tomorrow and not have to worry about returning, but i doubt that it will go.

wish pcpartpicker had ebay stores lol.

PM'd at Best Buy for $190.90 (-$5) since I had a RZ certificate that was gonna expire soon.

Was looking to upgrade to a bigger SSD since I was gonna fresh install Windows 10 anyways. My 128GB M4 has served me well these past few years. Thanks OP.

Thanks for this. Is there a way to find power consumption? Don't see it in this comparison. I bought the Intel 730 thinking it was a good option for a macbook pro upgrade but everything i've been reading on the forums lately is saying that the 730 runs too hot.

Evo - http://www.anandtech.com/show/8747/sams ... -review/10
730 - http://www.anandtech.com/show/7803/inte ... b-review/7

730 definitely drains more power than most SSDs. Fine for desktops, but might be an issue for laptops.

Google to the rescue (again) 5.5w active, 1.3w idle. It's a power hog relatively speaking

PS don't forget your favorite kick back sites (i.e. G C R) for an extra 3% off or so!!!

730 more power, lower speeds slightly (not really much at all though), hotter. "more reliable" but 5 year warranty.

evo is less power, slightly faster, cooler, "unknown reliability" but 5 year warranty.

take your pick. desktop 730 laptop 850 evo is my call at this price.

730 might have power loss protection?

850 evo has rapid (not sure if its even good to use really though - but your benchmarks looks insane)

So the newegg ebay deal comes to $199.49 in QC (they’re only charging one tax). To get the same price (not cheaper) on amazon.ca prime sale, it would have to go down to about $174 (+tx it would be $200). Considering that .ca is not even selling it at the moment, only 3rd party sellers are, this makes it unlikely.

For amazon.com prime sale to match newegg ebay’s price, it would have to go down to $132 US ($132US + $5.49US shipping + $19.80US import fees deposit = $157.29US/~$200CAD). If it goes down to $132 US or lower, it would be better to go with Amazon, as there’s always a chance that they’ll be refunding the import fees in a month or 2 (happened in past often when they don’t actually have to pay the duty on the package).

Newegg’s offer is mighty tempting though. I have a hard time believing that Amazon.com will drop it below $130US.

Disclaimer: All price calculated with QC 15% tax, and based on the fact that ebay newegg only charges GST.

Edit: loony went down since yesterday, so US prices conversion I made is off.

Wow, I hope this isn't an Amazon deal tomorrow, I just ordered a 500GB m.2 version from Amazon.com for $172.

Tried to get BB to price match Newegg's, but couldn't do for their eBay price. Did it with CC's instead.

For anyone in QC, dont even try to PM it with BB, the extra 10% tax kills the deal.

Ah OP why did you post this lol? Now I am debating if I should keep the Intel 730 for $224 for desktop, or cancel the order and get this instead.

Lol.

Seems like there's more stock of this one.

desktop 730 is fine. although if you PM and get this at $190-195 this is better value for the $30 you save (not sure its worth the time spent over the hassle though).

one benefit of 850 evo is that rapid mode with desktop wont eat up most of your ram like it would on a typical laptop. if there are any benefits to be had, easier to make use of that with more ram around.
