[Amazon.ca] Samsung 860 EVO 250GB SATA 2.5" Internal SSD $49.99

There was a thread last week regarding some Sandisk SSD drives for ~$40 or a bit less but lacked NAND. It looks like Amazon just put the Samsung 860 EVO 250GB drive on sale again from $69.99 to $49.99. This is a great upgrade if you trying to breath some extra life in an old computer/laptop or if you just want to add some pep to your current setup.

Eh if you only need 250gb, might as well consider dramless as well.

For the demographic that DRAM matters, they wouldn't buy something this small.

True and I purchased one as I am in the process of upgrading and updating my MAME arcade to play more modern games. I recently picked up an refurbished Dell Optiflex 9020 for $80 which didn't come with a SSD so this Samsung EVO 250gb SSD is more than enough space to suit my needs. Given how little use this thing gets I could have probably saved myself $10-15 and gotten myself a lesser known brand SSD without DRAM. I was actually going to purchase 65 of these for my work to upgrade the 80gb Intel SSD in all the POS machines that are 5-7 years but looks like amazon has a purchase limit of 1 or it wouldn't let me buy another.

Bought this with my GT 1030 to used in an old HP Elitedesk 800. Should be a nice low end gaming rig now. GT 1030 is the only option when your PSU is only 200W.

DRAM-less drives tend to use crappier NAND and controllers.

Personally, I would buy this 256GB Evo for its reliability. Speed isn't the main issue if I put these in Haswell systems.

I have a Raspberry Pi 3b+, would this be faster (via USB) than using a MicroSD Card (Sandisk Ultra 128GB)?

Got one of these delivered today, didn’t know $49 was a deal 2d ago, just needed one to switch into an old MacBook Pro I got for free from a friend. Our grade schooler has a laptop can Message, FaceTime and use for classes, was using an old Mac Mini at a desk, has some portability in the house now. Pretty snappy upgrade. Put an SSD in the Mini years ago too.
