[Amazon Canada] Samsung 970 PRO M.2 NVMe 512GB

My first post, so go easy on me,

Shopping for a new M.2 Drive and found this, one of the best M.2 Drives

Amazon:
Samsung 970 PRO M.2 NVMe 512GB 329.99 - 30% = 229.99
Samsung 970 PRO M.2 NVMe 1TB 589.99 - 22 % = 459.99

Enjoy

Good price as of recent, but it's been floating around this price mark off and on for months (more off than on)

Get one of these instead - just as fast and the price is far more indicative of the upcoming QLC price revolution:

Dollarama has a no exchange/no refund policy, and as a result, all sales are final. This information can be found on the screen of each check-out/point-of-sale in our stores as well as on each receipt.

Absolutely hot deal, for MLC lovers.
This is the best consumer Samsung MLC SSD you can get, for now.
Similar (R> 2500 W>1500) non-retail MLC SSD (like Toshiba XG3 or Samsung SM961) costs ~USD 150 (new) on eBay.

There are two Warehouse deals for $197 if you click "2 used from ...". Worst case scenario someone put in a fake one and returned it but you can always get your money back on Amazon.

Not to discuss which xLC is better. People have different preferences and needs. hp EX920 1TB is CAD199.99 , WD Black 1TB is CAD279.99 if MLC is not your absolute requirement.
Be nice to people k?

My thoughts, and purchase, exactly. But this is still inferior by a small percentage over the Samsung pro, and is more similar to the Evo.

That's just a fact of life without MLC on some benchmarks, but the chipset on the ADATA is superior to Samsung's and it's about as fast as you can get with 3D TLC. It's faster than the EVO and just a bit slower than the Pro, but it's closer to the Pro overall.

Plus, at this level of performance (3K+/3K read/write) you are really not going to notice the tiny difference, even in high-performance environments, while I definitely noticed spending half the money. I have a 1TB and a 512GB, and these things absolutely fly and are a crazy value for the money.

Unless you are transferring large files from 970 pro to another 970 pro or putting it in a server, there is no need to buy a 970 pro. You better of buying a 970 Evo plus that goes for $170 right now for 500gb.

Good first post OP, well done. Price in the subject line is always appreciated, thanks.

I agree, this coming from someone that owns a 970 pro 512gb that I bought at launch for like $400

Since then also got two wd black 1tbs, a 480gb adata sx8200, an two 970 evo 1tbs.

The Mlc in this has a small sustained write advantage, aswell as better endurance for its size.

But other than that I would vote higher end 3D tlc drives for similar performance at a lower price for same size.

Why dont you look at newer cheaper faster generation EVO PLUS $170/500Gb ?
https://www.canadacomputers.com/search/ ... =+plus+970
note: not recommended for heavy duty use because they generate more heat, enjoy!
interesting.

Though, I'm not interested in something that makes more heat, as this is for a laptop.

I bought this NVME drive from amazon.ca for the same price last December. I've been really happy with it..

Its a decent post - though its not the *hottest deal* as it hits this price often - its still a good price... since it is sometimes $100 more.
