[Amazon.ca] Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD - 500GB $129.99

A few retailers has the 980 Pro 500GB on sale for 129.99

Amazon and Newegg from what i've seen so far.

Still upset with myself for ordering the regular 980 1TB from newegg, apparently it's not great compared to its predecessors.

The 980 PRO is definitely top of the line SSD.

Since I can't return on Newegg without restocking fee, might get this as the main drive and put the regular 980 on secondary slot...

Not a bad deal. Though I'd still get a PCIE Gen 3 drive, like the SN750 1TB that was $139 a week or two ago. Not a huge believer in futureproofing when it comes to tech.

Hopefully by the time software and games can utilize Gen 4 speeds, SSDs in general get a lot cheaper.

Their pro series has always been great. Still have a sata 850 Pro that's running like mint.

Yeah too bad i missed the SN750, would've definitely got that at 139... paid 170 for my regular 980 1tb waiting to be shipped from newegg :(

These are amazing drives. I'm using a 500gb for OS and 2tb for games/photo editing in my x570 setup.

FYI the 2tb & 1tb have discount codes on newegg currently if anyone's looking for the larger storage.

At 500GB size, SN850 is a better home and gaming system drive, 980 Pro is better workstation drive.

"WD Black SN850 500 GB model has a slightly quicker sequential read speed (1.44%), but it trails in all other aspects to the Samsung 980 Pro; except for 4KB random read speeds where they perform equally. It falls behind to the 980 Pro substantially in sequential and 4KB random write speeds, by 22% and 75%."

Speaking of 128gb...where are all the cheap ones? You'd think we'd be at $20 all in by now.

Shoot I still have %99 remaining life on my 970PRO, and only a single NVME slot. Disappointed But Relieved Face I've been doing doing some modest video editing using this drive but with lossless 4K files which are quite large! It is a few years old now, maybe I'm stuck with it?

EDIT: "You cannot vote on your own post." what kind of bs is this, its darkmodegate all over again...

EDIT2: NVM sloar minimum gonna fry it anyways... Face Screaming In Fear

We were last year at Walmart for the Emtec and WD ones 512 or 256 GB as low as $30 but now the cheapest there seems to be stalled at $60 for the 256 GB. Luckily I still have a couple WD 256 and a Samsung 500 GB to install somewhere so I don't need anything right at the moment...
