Is this good for a Tesla dashcam? It looks the same as the one Tesla gives but without the Tesla logo.

Does anyone know if the Tesla one was made for continuous recording or is it the same as this?

I have this one. I like the speeds. Does get warm though. Then again, many of these drives tend to get warm on high speeds.

One of the answers to questions
A: There are so many factors which determine the read and write speeds of a USB drive. I have a high-end desktop computer with 3.2 USB capability, 64GB high-speed RAM, a high-speed bus and solid state drives. 400mb/s is a bizarre claim. On my system the Samsung Bar produced a READ speed of 285.27MB/s. That is pretty close to the 300MB/s advertised. (Amongst the fastest of the 3.1 and 3.2 drives I have tested.) However, what they fail to disclose is their dastardly slow WRITE speed. The WRITE speed tested out at just 63.39MB/s. (By far the slowest of the 3.1 and 3.2 class drives I have tested.) In my opinion WRITE speed is equally important, although never as fast as READ speed. There are better options out there.

Its more then fast enough, but not a high endurance drive. Will do the job fine but regular use will eat into lifespan of the drive.
The easiest way to get high endurance portable storage is one of the pro series sd or microsd cards and an adapter.

Something like this:

This looks to be the same drive that comes with new Tesla deliveries, just Tesla branding vs Samsung branding.

Grabbed 2, thanks OP

I paid $31 for the 128 Gb just a couple of weeks ago. Read speeds hit 360 Mb/s, but write is generally under 100 Mb/s. Gets pretty warm.

Those are just nitpicks though, this is a great deal!

I don't know this model (btw $40 is a very very good deal) but I used to have a Samsung Duo Plus as my dashcam/music drive on my Model Y. It only lasted few months and its speed dropped to an unusable level.
I'm now using a 500gb Samsung T5 SSD.

It's well known the writes aren't super fast, but they're fast enough for most users.

There are too many pluses to skip this drive, I've given it to a few employees to put on their keychain.

The writes are at least 6 to 8 times faster than an average USB 3.0 thumb drive.

Great overall device.

How would that even work given the form factor? The whole point of this particular product (for me at least) is the tough casing, with no exposed connector, no moving parts and no cap. A USB-C connector would either have to be retractable, poking out, or have a cap.

USB-A is still ideal for thumb drives like this.

If you care about endurance, get the Sandisk High Endurance Max (pMLC) which in theory should provide significant longer write cycle than the High Endurance (TLC).
