(note the link is for a higher specced model, so probably even worse for this model)

Pros:
Light and compact
Good battery life

Cons:
Junk screen
Below average build quality
Loud
Poor specs for a $800 laptop
Not sure that your link a a higher end model. It’s not even an amoled display

Strong warning re: keyboard. The listing photos show the US layout but that is not the model they are shipping.

You'll get the Canadian En-Fr layout and IMO Samsung has one of THE worst:

Image

- Vertical right enter key
- Awkward AF left shift key

The models ending in -CA are plagued with this. Considered this laptop at one point but tried it for 10 seconds at the Samsung Store and knew it'd be a dealbreaker.

I understand. For me, to the contrary, it’s the best layout (“French Canada”) and I prefer it to the “Canadian Bilingual” one.

What’s kills it for me is the lack of backlighting :(

Is there any windows laptops that come anywhere close to the construction quality of macbooks? Ie. Full metal chassis?

This review is not for this particular variation. This laptop has AMOLED screen and in the review its IPS.

Sister got a Matebook that died after 2 years. Repairman said that Huawei laptop are really nice but harder to repair than other brands. True or not? I don't know but I'll avoid this brand.

I can't believe not even Samsung has a laptop that's full metal... It's ridiculous, even the $2000 laptop has a plastic bottom...

Huawei devices compromise your security and honestly its crazy to use these devices - infact everything is well established now in the security world around their devices. Hawuei devices have thousands of security issues, call home all the time. More so these devices have multipule backdoors into them, constantly in cybersecurity these are often banned from networks for a reason. I beleive microsoft even published some info on these back doors on matebooks.

For this price, macbook air m1 is your only real option.

I did one worse and actually bought it online, before returning it after I realized how crap the keyboard was.

Surface Laptop, perhaps. Otherwise agreed, XPS devices, maybe the Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 and Z16 as well.

What's truly ridiculous is that my Macbook Pro 2012 Retina from 11 years ago has better construction and nicer screen than 95% of all Windows laptops in stores today

I returned it mainly because of this. Thought I could deal with it but as a touch typer, was practically unusable.
