[Amazon.ca] Seagate 10TB External Drive + Hub - $269.99

This is the cheapest this drive has been on Amazon.ca according to the camel site. Good price if you need 10TB, however I'm not sure which HD populate these enclosures. Anybody knows?

See posts #2 and #6 for info about the internal HD and cost per TB. Thanks to U4LIFE and cillerbee for their contribution.

Only 9 left in stock (more on the way).

Same price at BestBuy.ca:

Enjoy!

Barracuda Pro, helium drives. ST10000DM0004

Pretty good deal considering the drive inside, the previous ones I shucked were at $340 last year

Also noticed bestbuy.ca has same price

Still a lot more $/TB than a 8tb shuck when onsale, but that barracuda compute drive is definitely in a lower league

Those are SMR drives then? M0004 drives are SMR I believe.

Yea these are the Baracudda PRO 7200 rpm drives rated at 300TB/Year vs 55 TB/Year for the 8TB Non-PRO SMR drives. Definitely a good price. Works out to $30/TB which really isn't bad considering its hard to get 10 TB HDDs at that price. Even the Toshiba x300 8TB 7200 rpm drives that went on sale in December worked out to $31/TB.

Has anyone been able to shuck this without breaking/snapping off any of the retainer clips of the enclosure?

Nope... I have tried a few times.. those things are brittle.. at least one will break.

That said even if a few break, it will still securely close again at least until the next time you try to open it.

Do you know if the enclosure is compatible with other drives? Thinking of putting some older drives in the enclosures after shucking them.

Yes I have used other drives in there with no issues. Just a standard SATA Data and SATA power connector inside.

Glad to know the enclosure doesn't have any kind of drive-whitelisting firmware. Thanks!
