[Amazon.ca] Seagate BarraCuda 6TB Internal Hard Drive HDD – 3.5 Inch SATA 6 Gb/s 5400 RPM 256MB Cache - $119.99 [Backorder]

Just came across this while browsing hard drives. It's back ordered for 1-2 months according to Amazon, but it seems like a good deal even for a 5400 RPM drive. Shipped and sold by Amazon.ca

Limit of one, boo..
Nobody cares which companies you use/subscribe to on a monthly basis unless there is a deal to be had. Why advertise for them in your forum signature?

I don’t even need this, only have laptops and several 2.5” portable hdd but picked it up anyway and decide later before it ships. $20/gb is good (edit: I mean $20/tb)

Already have the $75 staples 4tb seagate expansion ($99-$25 coupon) for the ps4 that’s 3tb filled and don’t have any more games I want to install on it at the moment.

Anyone recommend a good 3.5” caddy? Prefer one that can just plug/swap and play if I start getting more 3.5” drives

Too bad these are Shingled Magnetic Recording drives. Seems everything Seagate releases which is non-NAS uses SMR technology to reduce costs.

This 3.5" drive can't really be installed to replace ps4's internal hard drive, can it?

Meh. If you're looking for performance from a 5400rpm drive, you're in the wrong aisle.

SMR gets you more capacity for less. For MANY usage models this is perfect.

I was also interested in the drive and thus was the first thing I researched since Seagate has that tendency. It certainly has it's uses and Seagate originally designating them as Archive drives. That distinction no longer exists so regardless if they call it Archive or Baracuda, they still use SMR.
