[Amazon.ca] Seagate Expansion Desktop 16TB External HDD (STEB16000402) - $398.99

Best Canadian price to-date on this 16TB monster according to the three wise dromedaries.
Comes to just under $25/TB. Pretty good these days.

Thank you @kaws for the link:

Can always cancel before it ships.
Yeah something like this would be perfect as a back-up drive for my content to keep at my parents' place. Still, $400 is a lot of hooch! I might wait for Black Friday, I'm hoping retailers offer some fantastic deals to try and make up for the lost revenue due to COVID

Not sure an extra $80 is worth an extra 2tb though when comparing this to the $319 14tb Western Digital....

Convince me?

I have one, can confirm it's an Exos. 250-260MB/s write speeds. Tempted to cancel the 14 TB backordered drive with BB and get a second of these, but I've got a feeling we haven't seen the lowest price on this guy yet. Maybe a $350-75 deal on BF? Also wouldn't be shocked to see the internal drive come down below 450... the SAS-variant is actually only $420ish right now.

Any important data should be backed up, regardless of if it's 1, 5, or 16 TB.

I've got both orders going right now.. BB and Amazon. Lets see which ones ship first :)

I know it's prudent to have external storage but 16 TB? I thought 4-5 TB drives were sufficient these days. I mean, how much porn do you guys have to archive? (You know it's true)

One 4K Remux file is anywhere from 40GB-80GB, so if that's your bag then 16TB fills up pretty quick.

Then look it up. My 4K movies are around 25-30gb each, I have about 300 4k movies and around 400 1080P movies. Storage gets depleted quick if you know how to use it and I'm sure my collection is significantly lower than many out there.

Not sure how accurate Amazon is with those expected delivery dates. I've seen them fluctuate a lot, going from "1-2 months" to back in stock within a matter of days.
