With the current gen graphic card, I won't say it's overkill.

It's 100% overkill for 99% of current single cpu single gpu builds.

Great deal on an awesome PSU if you need it though.

Might be worth it if you have like 6-7 HDDs and a bunch of stuff attached to your pc. My 750w PSU was able to handle a 3080 but it was just short a few W to handle a HDD in my 6 HDD pc

You can find 850W variant for much much less. I think this is full modular but I paid about 132 + shipping and taxes for GM850 just last week.

Darn I need 1600watts to be in the 400$ range . 600$ is crazy.

Great for 2 big GPU systems (mining etc). Demand have risen for these high wattage PSU since the crypto surge.

If your system uses about 50% of power supply wattage that's about the highest efficiency so makes sense for normal systems as well.

This totally misses the point. There are zero current gen video cards available to build a decent PC with.

thanks, grabbed one. The 3PCI-E cable configuration is really odd tho... will need to go find some more cables somewhere else.

Seasonic might be a lesser known brand to some, but Corsair licenses them (or, used to..) for their higher end PSUs (CX and RM iirc). Seasonic for life!

That's not true, I have purchased 2x 3080, 1x 3090, 1x 3070 and 1x 3060Ti, they can be found without too much work.
