I ordered this a couple of winters ago. Returned it due to general shoddiness. All those 5-star reviews make it seem like a no-brainer, but it seemed ok at best in person.

Ended up paying more for a bodum all stainless steel model which has been great ever since.

Got this in June for $40, which was the regular price at that time. But this is a really good price. Quality is really good and I haven't had any issues using twice a day.

Wanted to remind myself of some specifics and this review hit some of the issues as I recall:

“Products like this are frustrating b/c of all the 5 star reviews. Cheaply made, the screen was coming apart right out of the box, the lid doesn't seal (as mentioned in other negative reviews), stainless steel is magnetic, no way it keeps coffee hot for any appreciable amount of time. Mine was cold by the time i got out of the shower (~20 mins after making it)... all-in-all really cheaply made and disappointing. Save your money on a name-brand.”

Not NEPEAN
Bought this and have no complaints. Use it at work. I don't mind microwaving my coffee when it gets cold so I can't comment on how long it keeps warm.

I was under the impression that Amazon stopped partnering with cashback sites around March...and then offered 1%-2% cashback on Amazon devices only.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago for $30, so it can be had a little cheaper.

I haven't used it yet as it's a Christmas present to myself from the kids. I'm a bit disheartened to hear that it's not great at keeping the coffee warm as that's the main reason I got it. I really wanted an insulated French press, guess I'll have to keep looking.

Use it everyday, works awesome and looks nice. Good deal at that price for sure. It has a double wall and keeps coffee warm for a while.

Fakespot gives it a C rating, so def some fake reviews in there.

I too am sticking with a bodum for my French press.

Just get a bodom. There is no difference between any of the french press coffee makers, and the stainless steel makes it hard to use

Thanks OP. After breaking countless glass french press (including Bodum and Ikea), I think I'll give the metal one a try.

Given that I'm making more coffee at home, definitely interested in a quality one and good functionality. Only thing I hate is cleaning these damn things lol

So I had one for about a year (the 17oz model) which is perfect for a single person, but I still should have bought a bigger one and fill it less for myself and have the option to make coffee for multiple people
Quality is good tbh, it feels pretty solid and it's not too bad to clean. I did buy more screens (I think 10$ for 4 screens) and I change them every 4-6 months.

I use the french press James Hoffmann technique to make my coffee and never had any issues. I don't leave coffee in it after I'm done so I don't know how long it keeps the heat, but I brew my coffee for 10-15 mins with the lid off and it is still too hot to drink afterward so "shrug". I would assume it could stay very hot for minimum an hour with the lid on.

Bodum +1

Stainless steel I find takes more effort/time to clean, and coffee stains would look gross over time if you miss spots.

Haven't broke my bodum yet, but I've had a dozen crappy $8 french presses in the past, I could have bought something super nice with all that money wasted. They would just self destruct, I never dropped any of them.
