Seiko Men's SGF204 Stainless Steel Two-Tone Watch.

Always been curious about this Seiko Datejust homage. Highly rated and sells on eBay for $300-500.

This price point is at its lowest in years. Reduced from $241.xx

had it been with an auto movement, I'd be all over this... quartz - not for hommage to an auto watch

I was interested in this watch at one point, until I handled one. Great looker, unfortunately it doesn't feel anywhere close to its price point. IMHO the Casio MDV106 and Timex weekender feel better quality at much lower cost.

Extremely light, hollow, and cheap feeling. Doesn't help the hollow endlink folded bracelet feels as if it came out of the 70's - which it probably did, they've been making these in one variation or another for decades.

Automatic ones are highly sought, apparently folks are paying $700+ for what essentially is a Seiko 5.

Any other 'datejust' homages at this price point or even bit higher?

You could get a Datejust homage by Pagani Design on Aliexpress for about $120. It'll have a sapphire crystal and solid bracelet and a Seiko NH35 movement in it. Shipping takes about 2 to 3 weeks and is free. I have a Pepsi Submariner homage by them.

There are, though depends how much faith you have in unknown Chinese "brands" / unheard of microbrands so YMMV. Haven't looked at DJ homages for a very long time, I know of Parnis and Pagani, I think Tisell made a DJ at one point too, but never handled one in person so can't speak for any of them.

The SGF204 certainly has the looks and that's its only redeeming quality, but IMHO it should be $100 or less regular price for that build quality.

Nice! Look like the new jubilee GMT master II with a submariner dial. Though having a 24 hour bezel on a non-GMT would drive me nuts because the 24 hour markings and day/night markings on the bezel are useless without a GMT hand.

It's a matter of personal perception. If that was a bike (light, hollow...feels really expensive).

Never understood the idea that weight is somehow correlated to quality. (If anything, it's related to the material used.)

Just to add to this, there are a whole bunch of brands (pagani design was mention, san martin, parnis, steeldive, cadisen, etc) you can find on aliexpress. you can get them if you want to umm test drive certain styles of watches, before you, umm, start dropping big bucks (or maybe not) on what they are being inspired by (rolex, omega, panerai etc.)
I'm not aware of other forums, just this subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ChineseWatches/

Actually it is a GMT. The GMT hand is sort of hidden. You can see it near the "5" marker. The minute hand is covering most of it. They should have made the GMT hand red to make it stand out.

For those who care, this is the exact watch that Christian Bale wore in American Psycho. He didn't actually wear a Rolex.

If you're not going to buy the real thing, why not at least buy the Steinhart version?

Does Steinhart have a version of this watch? I don't think so. Steinhart doesn't make many (any?) dress watches. And we're talking a totally different price range, a new Steinhart will be $800ish Cdn or more shipped, all in.

That's a dive watch, not a Datejust homage.

Just a tip if anyone wants a silver dial watch with a day-date and a Japanese quartz movement. Look for Pulsar in new condition on eBay from sellers from the UK or Japan. I got one for $40 with shipping, they're a Seiko sub-brand and the watch looks great. Also 36mm which is a bit harder to find usually, I swapped out the metal bracelet for a leather strap. Casio also makes some nice ones in their MTP series though they're usually just the date and not the day.

Honestly $100-150 is the most you need to pay for a quartz watch unless you're picky.

I just got this one from the Aliexpress Nov 11 sale for $110. It has amazing build quality. The bezel is perfect and has no play in it. The only real complaint is the clasp is stamped. Otherwise, the bracelet is solid links (endlinks too). It has a Seiko NH35 movement, sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel. The lume lasts all night long. Everything lines up. If you're interested in this model, search Aliexpress for "Steeldive 1954". The store I got mine from was Chermeri Watch Store.

I'm talking about the Coke diver, not the OP's rather nice Seiko. It's $700 CAD all-in. Plus you get GMT functionality. It'll blow these Chinese AliExpress watches out of the water. If you can't afford it, just save until you can.
