[Amazon.ca] SEKC 256gb USB 3.1 flash drive $21.99

It's OOS but you can still order it at this price and they will ship it out once it comes back in stock.

This looks like a great price on a drive of this capacity, and from the reviews it looks like it's quite fast as well.

Enjoy!

Where did you find the reviews? I searched around and only found three positive at amazon.com, and all of them were given the usb drive for free.

I don't want to be that guy, but how legit is this brand? The outer shell looks like its made from dirt cheap plastics. I Googled SEKC and the first result is urban dictionary. $21.99 for 256 GB USB3.1 is almost too good to be true.

Seems too good to be true (brand name is like $50+), also can't add to cart.

it looks quite fake too.
Lots of I/O errors apparently.

Still... since it's Amazon I may just buy it.
All else fails it comes in fake and I return it.

EDIT: Oh wow it was pulled as I was adding it to my cart.
Do you not have anything else to do rather than argue with strangers on the internet
Nope. That's why I'm on the internet arguing with strangers. If I had anything better to do I'd probably be doing it.

3.1 Gen 1 is just what they renamed USB 3.0 as. Cheap drives probably aren't much faster than USB 2.0 though.

if "name brand" flash drives can be fake on amazon (and it has happened, even from amazon.ca), then I would not even bother with a complete no-name brand. they probably just report completely bogus capacity information to the OS.

For shits and giggles i kept going through the google results:

Here is their website https://www.sekc.jp/ (this drive sells for more in their home market vs Amazon)...they don't seem to 'make' anything...just distribute in japan (allegedly)

SEKC is distributed by https://www.gish-japan.com/

Gish Japan is part of http://www.gish-int.com/what-we-do Really would like to know how they "partnered' with these brands http://www.gish-int.com/brands

I've been fooled by similar in the past, I think it was a micro SD card that was supposed to be 128GB for an unbelievably low price. Plugged it in an was surprised it actually showed as a 128 GB card! But when I started moving data to it, it could only hold 16GB. I eventually figured out they had messed with the file allocation table to make a 16 GB card show up as 128.

"Read speeds up to 130MB/s" This is not a usb 3.1 drive with that read speed.
