[Amazon.ca] Sennheiser PXC 550 260$

Saw this price drop on CCC. Thought I would share.

Edit : Changed link from CCC's link to Amazon's link. Sorry about that.

Did you setup alert for this or you just randomly check ccc for all dropped products ?

If you’re spending this much, may as well spend a bit more and get HyperX Cloud Orbit’s. They have planar magnetic drivers from audeze. Best bass I’ve ever heard in a pair of headphones under $1000.

rtings.com have these at worse isolation, worse sound leakage and worse latency than the $100 cheaper Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC.
For my purpose of strictly commuting on train trying to block out noise while listening to music or watching TV looks like the HD 4.50 are the way to go.

Which one is better? This or the Bose Soundlink wireless? They have the same price ~300.

i had these before i sold them and eventually got the WH-1000XM3.

the pxc i found were very comfortable, and sounded nice. to me, it felt very premium, the leather ear cups felt great to me. i cant really comment on the noise cancelling as i didnt do it head to head. i liked it while i had it. the switch on the side of the headphone to switch between noise cancelling intensity was nice. its a bit bigger when stored compared to my 1000xm3, and the case is also not as hard/protective.

however, the touch control was less than stellar imo. the 1000xm3 are much better in terms of sensitivity, i didnt really liked using the pxc touch control. overall, i prefer my 1000xm3 more, but it also costs more.

be advised also there is an updated version now, pxc550-II.

You only consider Beats if you listen to rap/hip hop exclusively and care about what image your headphones convey

Versus.com rates the PCX550 over the HD 4.50 but adds that the HD 4.50 is more cost effective. Rting also rates the PCX 550 as the better headphone. Now whether they are $100 better...

I bought this PXC AFTER I got Sony XM3 and before I had Bose QC3X, PXC is way better on frequency response aka for Audiophiles.
- However, if you listen to more pop music with vocals ... you should get the Sony.

The touch control sucks on both PXC and Sony IMHO. Often I found it skips tracks instead of changing the volume when stroke through lol. Bose's classic control is better.

Also, unless you tweak with app the PXC is lower on volume compares to Sony etc. Which in some's view is a good thing to protect your hearing.

As for noise cancelling, PXC has it but not stellar as Sony (XM3 is (the best hands down). If you fly often, get Sony (or QC35 for cheaper).
