[Amazon.ca] SKIL 5 Amp Corded Jig Saw $39.98

I've been spoiled with cordless tools but this jigsaw is pretty decent for the price ($40). It has oscillating modes for fast or clean cutting. Temporarily OOS but you can still order and once stocked it will ship to you. I might get it to invert it as a temporary "bandsaw/scrollsaw"... until I can build a decent bandsaw with woodgears.ca plans.

Thanks OP. Been keeping an eye out for one. Need it for those rare projects where a Sawzall, miter saw, or circular saw won't do and didn't want to spend a fortune for the limited use it will get. Great price for a good looking jig saw.

Thanks OP. Talk about timing. My 25 year old jigsaw died three days ago.

It’s a pretty good saw. If you are on Ryobi ecosystem, their orbital jigsaw is on sale too (but a bit more $)

Looks like the deal is dead on Amazon, I don't see that price anymore (now over $90 after shipping) , but Home Depot still has it for sale

Only thing is that it looks like it used U shank blades, which is less popular (less selection) than T shank blades.

What's the general consensus on Skil as a brand for this? I know they basically invented the circular saw but how about this?

Jigsaws are meant to be somewhat precise and not just for rough cuts, so I expect some level of accuracy.

They were bought out by another company and have upped their game recently over the past yr or so. Their 12v and 20v new stuff is quite good, although pricing in Canada amazon is horrible.

This specific jigsaw i have no clue... it looks decent but you can't really tell until you actually use it.

Weird that I cannot find a product page on their website. I wonder why

Thanks OP and person who suggested Home Depot.

Bought one. Should be a good starter jig saw to learn on.

This model doesn't seem to show up on their warranty registration page. Safe to assume that it's been discontinued and does not come with the 5 year warranty?
Not sure how that works. It's a very cheap unit overall but I'd like to at least get a couple of years out of it. Anyone else have an idea?
