[Amazon.ca] Sonos Beam, the smart, compact soundbar for TV, music, and more. $379.99

Pretty good price for this soundbar. Costco was similarly priced during BF and $20 less if you had the online coupon. But at this point, it's $120 off Amazon retail of $499. Costco is currently $420, $60 off.

Thanks. Ordered black. I missed out on the BF beam deals but have since gotten a One and now I want a full 5.1 surround. Happy it dropped below BF prices. Thanks

Thx OP

For a little more clarity, got this for $429.99 minus $60 so $369.99 at Costco which is $10 bucks cheaper than Amazon.

What about ordering online and getting the $20 off $100+?

Great! that's so weird, their regular price is $479, so when the site shows $419, it seemed like the $419 already reflected the $60 off. Thanks for the clarity. With the $20 off >$100 online order coupon, it's cheaper than BF. You don't know this until you add to cart. Do you think this is an error?

Keep going back and forth about getting this new beam over the older (but larger) playbar. Diving in headfirst for the 5.1 but it's hard to overlook the 400 or so in savings with the beam over the playbar.

It's also smaller too.

I had a $120 off 200+ order coupon (Got this coupon when I signed up for a membership a few months ago) that I used which I couldn’t combine with the $20 coupon but I would think it would work.

If your going for a 5.1 setup the beam should be fine. If you want a 3.1, then go for a playbar. I’m just hoping the sun will drop below $700.

As for Costco, my $20 off $100 coupon is showing as invalid? I thought they extended the promo until Jan 5? Anyways for $10 more I prefer the amazon’s black color I ordered over Costco’s shadow colour.

I agree, it should be fine, but I'm a bit of an idiot and don't want to regret buying the smaller beam lol

My $20 code isn't working on the Costco site either. Maybe it's disabled for boxing day?

Promotion "90000193-10645152" is temporarily not available at this time.

Amazon looks to be OOS, so it's either Costco or Best Buy at this point.

At twice the price, I don’t think the playbar is worth it over the beam. Once you factor in the Tech, Tv connections Etc, I would rather have a beam and two One SL for the price of playbar.

That's understandable, and a very valid point. I don't need voice capabilities so that's minor, but being more future proof in terms of connections is a good idea. Having 9 speakers with the overpriced playbar is nice though and my living room is quite long so worry about coverage with the beam.

I bought the Beam from Costco during Black Friday sale to test. I already owned the Playbar for years. After testing both in a 5.1 setup the Beam went back. The Playbar sound is significantly better, IMO, even with the ARC and voice assistant benefits of the Beam. I hope the Playbar is updated in 2020 it's been on the market since early 2013 without update.

Yeah without HDMI Arc on the playbar its a no go, I hope they update this and include voice assistant like the beam

This is what I feared and why I'm so hesitant to jump on the beam. Thinking of holding off until the playbar 2.0 gets released (although not sure if/when it will be) and jumping on it then. Then I'll be good for years.

If you actually care about sound quality then forget the Beam vis a vis the Playbar. If you've never owned the Playbar then by all means try the Beam. It's still a great sound bar but it will depend on your setup. The Beam in a 5.1 (i.e. Beam + Sub + Two Rears) or Just the Beam + Sub sound significantly better than just the Beam on its own. Sonos does a good job of analyzing the setup and then utilizing the hardware optimally.

My friend has the bar and it's quite impressive on its own, although he only that one piece and I've never heard any version of the Sonos 5.1 system.

I'm likely overthinking it, as I usually do, but want to do it right the first time.
