[Amazon Canada] Sony A7 ii Mirrorless Camera with 28-70mm Lens $1399 - Historic Low

I saw a pretty good deal for the a7ii a week ago in America, it came with a few extras but - this is in Canada so far less trouble with trying to ship it across the boarder and warranty stuff. I believe you can also pick this up in bestbuy right now for the same price.

If you are looking to get into the full frame world (and are on a budget) this is an amazing camera.

Same price at Henrys as well. How good is the 28-70 lens?

It isn't the sharpest ever compared to other lenses, but for a kit lens it is amazing (short answer).

Sony's S.U.R.E. pricing ensures it'll be the same price at every legitimate Sony dealer in Canada. McBain's Best Buy, London Drugs etc

For $100 more than the body-only price, it doesn't matter: just take it. It sells for $500 new by itself. If you don't like it, just sell it and put the money into the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 or some other lens.

i already have a a6300 with a bunch of sigma aps c lens. i downgraded myself last year from canon full frame 5dmk2 for ease of travel and cheaper underwater case. although i am generally ok with the iq of a63000 and love the modern focus and 4k video, i feel something is a bit off with the landscape shots. maybe it is the color or the aggressive sharpening...i prefer landscape shots from my old canon way more.

does it make sense for me to get a7ii or spend the extra for a7iii? if sony native crop lens are any indication, i assume i will have to upgrade the kit lens too...

From what I have researched, the a7iii is almost world apart from the a7ii. If you have the money everyone says go with the a7iii. The only reason I am getting the a7ii is for budget reasons. If I could afford the a7iii that would be an automatic purchase for a full frame camera.

For landscapes I don't see a huge reason to upgrade to a full frame though, unless you are doing shots with less light. You can get some amazing pictures out of the a6xxx line of cameras in good lighting.

Do you shot RAW? I shoot it on Nikon, Fuji & Sony and my end result are always as I intended it to be, after editing.

Don't pull the trigger just yet, wait until 15x/20x Airmiles or 10% Dell cash back from EBATES.

yes i shot raw and touch up in LR. however, somehow it just look less pleasing than my canon especially during day light or overcast. i found it more difficult to get the color right

Well lenses make a huge difference, too. You are also comparing a Canon FF sensor vs Sony aps-c sensor. Unfortunately, if you want cheap ,portable FF camera, A7Mk2 is the only option.
