Is there any advantage over getting a used LG phone with hi-fi dac, or a simple USB-C dac like Ztella?

I think generation blaming is really silly. Few people bought high end cassette tapes, let alone any other high end audio format let alone speakers. People have always like music but this was always a niche and expensive hobby.unshavenyak wrote: ↑ When you have an entire generation raised on 15 second clips and ultra compressed Vevo channel on YouTube, what do you expect? Very true. My son only watches youtube movie clips and refused to watch the full movie even when it's available. Same goes for music. People don't care about the quality so they won't buy an expensive wired headphone and use BT headphones. So it's really a niche product for a very small number of people.unshavenyak wrote: ↑ When you have an entire generation raised on 15 second clips and ultra compressed Vevo channel on YouTube, what do you expect? Guys im a total newb.
Does a DAC make any difference on sound quality over bluetooth? Or is it primarily for the headphone jacks?

Mainly people buy these things to optimize the quality for wired headphones. because the signal processing is improved and it has the capability to drive more demanding headphones, but this device also supports the best wireless standards like LDAC and AptX HD for blueTooth.
I used to have dedicated devices for music, but these days I'd rather just use an external DAC plugged into my phone

Can the A105 be used as a USB DAC like the A55?

I'm currently using phone /w either fiio bt3k bluetooth dac or $30 chinese wired dac usb c adapter. Would there be a noticeable quality improvement? I'd be using it mostly for distraction during work, hikes, walking dogs ect.

Get a real good usb c dac for your android and you good to go. I know people will destroy me for saying this. But I tried one of these dedicated sony players and didn't notice much difference in sq.

Since you probably are into games because of your profile picture, then let me rephase what you said into the context of games.
Expensive, why buy a ps5 when I have a nokia 3310 where I can put 16 other games in it.

I don't think this vs an iPhone 3 is like a PS5 vs Nokia 3310 makes sense.
More like this as a gaming PC vs iPhone 3 as a PS3/4.

It’s actually gold plated copper... yellow would be cool (still have my yellow sport Walkman).
Based on some posts I suspect a healthy number of people in this thread would think a soundbar is overkill.Miguel Sánchez wrote: ↑ I don't think people in this thread would settle for a soundbar.

The word "Walkman" in the title got my attention.. big foam headphones should be included or it's no "deal" ;-)
Kudos to the audiophiles who appreciate.. and glad the brand is still out there.
