i have the OG version of this headphones.. the MDR-1000X ... for those that upgraded from prior versions, how big of an improvement is the XM4 version?

rtings has done a comparison with XM2 (they updated the review in 2018 so you can use as a benchmark) Xm2<XM3 by a wide margin and XM3<Xm4 by a slight margin.

I can also attest that the jump from XM2 to XM3 was significant, as they not only sounded better, but were more comfortable.
