FYI, it works differently than you would expect for debit. For debit, you CAN'T use PIN (i.e. insert and enter PIN). You can only tap and only up to $100. Therefore, if someone only wants to use debit, it'll have to be with a newer debit card that has tap, and only if the purchase is less than $100.

Most people will probably use credit cards but you still might get an occasional person who only wants to use debit and the restriction above isn't 100% obvious.
Most POS are capped at $100 for customers who tap anyways.

Sackville, New Bruns…
most debit transactions are capped at 100$ for the tap and will have a daily max before it will not allow the transaction to process without the card holder to enter their pin. My bank (RBC) is set to 200$ so as long as you don't go over the 200$ your fine. But if your volume is that high your better off going with a POS machine or check out Moneris they have a reader that takes chip and pin the only downfall is the 20$ monthly fee for the rental.
