I noticed something the other day that I find important.

The Fire Cube has a setting for audio - advanced audio - sound leveler and voice enhancer. This makes a huge difference for audio where the music or sound effects are way too loud.

My 2nd gen (non 4k stick doesn't have this.)

Despite being in the Apple ecosystem myself, it's difficult to recommend the Apple TV 4K, given it's price. However, they do offer one year subscription to their service for one year.

I'm not sure if Amazon gives you a similar deal with the purchase of a Fire TV Stick.

I'm looking to upgrade my Chinese-Android box at the cottage where Wifi bandwith is limited. How is the 4k stick with a local Plex library (or any other app, connected to a HDD)?
Edit: I'm also talking about a 4TB drive full of content...

I have these settings in my Fire Stick 4k (bought this sale).

I usually recommend a NAS setup with any streamer (that basically makes any local file system limation moot), but it might not be worth the investment in a cottage setup.

There are always wireless HDDs or wireless routers that support USB storage for more "on the go" setups (even attaching an HDD to a laptop and accessing it over the network would work), but if you would rather have everything wired to the firestick you will need to root it first then add NTFS/exFAT support yourself (out of the box firestick isn't compatible with any local storage but fat32 formatted one, which limits you to the 4GB file size and 2TB partition size)

With that out of the way, Plex (client) and other streaming local apps (like Kodi or VLC) have no issue running on the firestick.

I'm in the Apple ecosystem as well and love my Apple tv 4k. Once they add 4k YouTube, my Apple tv will have all the streaming apps I need.

I own the Apple TV HD right now... The one with the Siri remote and access to the app store... Would this be an upgrade on that?

Thank you as well. It looks like it's one per account but it wasn't hard to create a second account for my parents and order through there.
