keepa says lowest was $9.97, 8 months ago, so if you don't need it now it might be worth waiting.

Sliced potatoes, ginger, carrots etc.
If you buy one but a pair of cut proof gloves, they're deadly in removing finger tips.

These things are insanely dangerous.

I lost the tip of my thumb the first time I used it... and before people call me an idiot, the doctor in the ER was angry that the things don't come with training beforehand. The number of people he sees come in with injuries from them is insane.

Are you one of those people that need rails on a bridge, otherwise you might jump off? C'mon man, you just put your fingers behind the plastic guard and there's 0 risk of cutting yourself.

Not well. Also cutting carrots is not easy either. I bought the Borner (German made) mandoline for $40 and it was still crap, mind you these are supposed to be best on the market. I wouldn't recommend.

1995: Chatting with a friend while using this to slice a carrot. Side of my hand went through the V blade. Totally my fault that I wasn't using the safety guard of course. Took me 24 years to get the nerve to buy another.

Edit: I should add: I went to the ER for stitches.

Posts like these horror stories, make me cringe. Had one at home a few years ago, never used it, so donated it, the thought of using it made me queezy.

Should be banned just like...
