I cut my self using the guard.
Now I just wear a Kevlar glove and it's fine. FWIW I bought the cheapie Benriner unit.

Just curious where you found your kevlar glove?

Any good glove to recommend for using these deadly hand slicers?

The comments are horrible, and it's easy to see why. The blade has a terrible design: the V should be way more pronounced. In this one, you'll have to push harder. A lot of vegs won't get cut properly, and you'll have to push hard. Like with dull knives, having to exert a lot of force is a massive source of danger.

Mandolines seem likr simple stuff that shouldn't be expensive, but trust me, you want to get a better one than this.

(Also, i have found mandolines not be as useful as I thought, because they aren't *that many* dishes that requires a lot of slices vegs. Unless I'm doing potato gratin, I'm often more likely to reach for a chef knife.)

Used a similar slicer about 20 years ago. I tried cutting potato to make fries, my palm landed on the stripping blade when when the potato slipped off the holder.

Didn't lose any fingers or get stitches in ER, but it hurt real bad

FY -deceptive infomercials.
No thanks OP
