[Amazon Canada] TaoTronic LED Dimmable Desklamp $37.99+FS Warm

Amazon marketplace is having a sale on taotronics dimmable led lamp. It comes fairly highly reviewed with a 4.9/5 based on 16 reviews.

Details:

Natural, smooth and uniform light, ideal for long hours of reading or writing
Detachable lamp head with internal battery to provide emergency/portable light when needed
3-level touch control with gooseneck arm to adjust position and brightness of light
USB charging port with 5V 1A output to charge your smartphone and tablets
Package content: 1 x LED Lamp; 1 x Lamp base; 1 x Adapter; 1 x User Manual. 1-year Warranty

Looks like an interesting product. Has a built in usb port for cell/tablet charging, but with it being 1amp, don't expect smart/rapid charging from it.

All reviews are based on people who got it for free. Looks interesting, but I don't think I'll risk it.

Good lamp. It's not super bright, but it does work pretty well.

For what it's worth, and for a bit cheaper, I recently purchased a desk lamp at Costco (Burlington, ON) for $29.xx. (I can't find it on their website but it looks very similar to this: Lumisource Gripp Led Lamp (in black, not sure if Costco had white.)

Light is very good - bright and even and focused, 3 brightness settings, flexible neck, and touch control (touch control can be is a bit finicky - sometimes takes a few touches to switch). Styling is nice. Only used it for 1 week but seems great so far, other than occasionally picky touch control.

The internal battery in this light might be a nice feature. It also post a weakness as rechargeable battery have a lifetime. Just have that in mind if you decide to buy.

I won't give a thumb to something *****ty even if I got it for free. If the product is good enough, people will tell the truth no matter spend money or not.

i would think people are more likely to be truthful if they got it for free. generally i think people review only if they have a negative experience especially with something as mundane as a LED desk lamp.

anyways, i have one similar to this that i also ordered from amazon and it does the job fine (doesn't have the adjustable gooseneck, just a swivel arm that moves maybe 270 degrees or so at max), really help lights up your workspace especially when your room lighting sucks. i wouldn't try the usb port though - the ****** L100 (which is what i got) always makes this crackling noise whenever i use that port for charging so i'd really rather not chance it when i have a few usb ports on my surge protector as well to use.

People who got it for free will not be affected by the bang/buck ratio. How cab they know if it is good enough for the price that it costs if they never paid for it?

If a 2$ lamp didn't break for a ywR, I will rate it 5 stars. If a 40$ lamp is no different than a 2$ lamp, I will rate it 1 star.
