Yup - prime.

I've noticed that even some " prime " items have shipping times of 1 week (free) vs. 1 week with a charge.

Does everyone that received theirs have Amazon prime? I dont and used free shipping and mine says it wont get here till January 25th. I ordered it on January 17th. I have a few orders lately with ridiculous shipping times with Amazon. Seems like they are purposely delaying shipping items.

I have turned that on for 3 hours, and the RH stays at 20. Why?
You need to press the humidity control and bring it up to 45 or 50%, it will blink for 3 secs then will set that as the goal and you will see the number changing up from 20 but slowly.
It's in the manual.

That's what I did, I set it at 40, but after three hours, the RH still stays at 20 and it never even changed. Is it because my living room is too big?

Logic would dictate that your room is too large, and will need more time.

I have moved it to my bedroom (120 sqft) and closed door. Will report back in several hours.

I've noticed with the integrated hygrometers they can "freeze" sometime if the unit gets wet or sits in liquid. Drying it up and unplugging it, then plugging it back in worked for me.

I reached out to Taotronics Support about white dust concerns, and how to avoid gunk/slime build up. Got this reply:

Please note: Never immerse the base in water. Also make sure to pour water away from the fan outlet when emptying."[/i]

It's a 4L tank so i won't be using distilled water but i'm hoping the once a week clean (as above) will avoid any issues.
That is what I have been doing. Face With Tears Of Joy

Its good to know that I can use filtered water. I have been using tap for months.

If the item is coming from amazon.com.ca, it will take at least a week. The .com site sends it over the border and then the item gets rerouted to you. This saves you from brokerage charge. Check this the next time the shipping states a week or so.

Thanks but I think it is Amazon making you be a prime member to get good shipping. They do this ever once and awhile and I stop buying from then when they do. Seems it's that time again.

I don't believe this machine can read/show any RH figure under 20%, which could explain why you are stuck at "20" for some time. For example, maybe you have gone up from 15->19 now?
I do own this model and it is designed for a large bedroom and not your whole house. I have used it to keep the main room in my house at around 30-32, which is tolerable for me. It can keep my bedroom at 40.

Can someone suggest an alternative model that doesn't have any of the white dust issues?

I don't mind some minor maintenance but there are allergy and asthma people in my household.
