[Amazon Canada] TaoTronics ANC Earbud Gen1 39.99 / Gen2 42.49

I have generation 1 and ANC work well. I just ordered 2nd generation since price dropped from 49.99. You are paying fraction of Bose 20i and getting 85% of noise cancellation performance. I was using Bose for many years and I got rid of them.

UK: 46GBP, bestseller
USA: was $36USD, OOS

Sorry, I'm a little confused, whats the difference between the two?
Not much. They just added ANC pause button so you can hear announcements. For me though I just take one side off instead of hunting for the button on plane. Battery life seems identical 15 hours for both.

But since Gen1 is $50, might as well get Gen2 at $43. I'm already very happy with Gen1 that I don't care for which. I tried other $50 ANC earbuds and they were junk. Some needed proprietary charging cable which is never a good idea. This one charges via Micro USB and you can still use it while charging.

From the number the new generation can reduce 25 dB of noise, where the old one could do 30 dB.
It might not be significant in practice, just if you call it a difference.

*I have the old one and I can't be more satisfied, I expect the new one to as good if not better.

IIRC every 10dB is double (or half, depending on whether increasing or decreasing) the volume. 5dB might be a significant amount.

3dB is double, 10 dB is ten times.
Power gain in dB = 10*log( Linear Power Gain )

5dB equates to about 3.16x the volume.

I can't imagine why they would reduce the noise cancelling power. It was not like battery was draining too fast on gen 1. My guess is they might of overstated numbers in gen1 and now they are being more realistic. Whatever the number is, it does work well in reducing aircraft noise. Especially for the price I cannot go back to Bose anymore.

Now Gen 1 is down to 39.99 this evening. They got double listing going on but it is same usual seller.

Gen2 moved battery box away from the end which is an improvement. It was interfering with device that you plug into because every time you lift device, you are lifting the battery box as well from surface. That deisgn is straight out of Bose QC20, which is long overdue for an update now.

Just curious where you're getting your information from on the Gen2? Product doesn't exist on the TaoTronics website or Amazon.com. Google is not turning anything up. Seems odd. Thanks!

EDIT: Must be because they've just been released? Found a "review" here: http://www.startlr.com/from-taotronics- ... cellation/

Just received the earbuds Gen 2...ANC works really well...I have air exchange in my basement and when switching on and off, can really hear the humming noise on and off.

As for music quality...seems to lack a bit on the bass.

Waiting on Plantronics Bluetooth over the ear deal (128$) to compare

That link looks more like product plugging by paid sweatshop writers.

You can find all this info going around internet over many months in a particular category. I was using Bose QC25 before I made switch to in ear type. This will be 4th in ear ANC I will be using/trying.

Because cables are non-replaceable (neither does Bose QC20 which is disgrace considering the price), I was still in market for another in ear ANC. This seems great option now with slightly improved battery pack placement.

Maybe placebo maybe legit but I find these markedly better than the gen 1 pair I have had for eight months. I feel like the ANC button not only generates white noise but it has an amplification affect which deepen the bass and really enhances the music in a different manner than the gen 1. I have only had these for 5 hours but I am impressed with the effect and the value. Remote works on apple.
