[Amazon.ca] TODAY ONLY SanDisk Extreme 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive With Speed Up To 245MB/s - $39.99

Hi all,
First time posting a hot deal so go easy on me.

Received a CCC alert that this was on sale for $39.99 from $50.56 at Amazon. It is within 5% of the lowest ever price ($38.83). Also nice bonus is the same day delivery (at least for my address). The expiry appears to indicate that it's a one-day only sale (today - August 14, 2017).

I set this alert up a few months ago because I read good reviews on its speed and reliability. Accordingly, I ordered one.

Hope this helps others.

Odd, the 3.1 version (vs 3.0) is only $4 more at regular price, I would think this is the new price point on this, no?

Good point. It's also a few generations behind (i.e., USB-C) but the 3.0 is advertised to be faster than the 3.1.

these are one of the approved usb drives for Nvidia shield add on storage. Definitely a good buy for someone that has a 16gb shield.

My personal favorite ... If I have to find a flaw from this thing, it might be the little "spring-loading" plug-in mechanism feeling ... and yes, it's FAST !!!

That 3.1 version is the "Extreme Go" version which rates itself at 150MB/s whereas the Extreme regular rates at 245MB/s in the OP.

At this price point you can get 350/s with 3.1 support like the kingston hyper X on sale for $50 https://www.amazon.ca/Kingston-Digital- ... B017TZBE7Q

It's okay but nowhere near the same performance. A lot of ppl complain about high heat on the Fit Flairs as well. Also 5yr warranty v. lifetime on the Extreme. While many USB 3.0 drives have good sequential performance, where the Extremes excel is in 4K performance--they have faster 4k write performance than the vast majority of flash drives out there, and by a wide margin. That's really the appeal of these...well that and the lifetime warranty and Sandisk name. But yeah the Extreme is basically a fast in all cases drive while most USB drives, even the faster ones, can't really say that.

There are faster USB drives out there, including Sandisk's own Extreme Pro, but pretty much everything above this is even more pricey and those are basically just SSDs with USB interfaces like Corsair's GTX and Mushkin's Ventura Ultra.

Saw this but actually just ordered the SanDisk Ultra Flair 128GB on sale for $36.99 today (Deal of the Day).

Seems like a more compact option to put on my keys and don't really need the faster speed of the Extreme.

These are my favourite kind of deals on RFD. I have no need whatsoever for it, but I'm extremely compelled to purchase.

Buy now, thank later...

Is this a better deal then can be found at Costco? I've always found Costco to be the best deal for purchasing USB drives..

Why is 3.1 slower than 3.0? And what's the difference between 3.1 and 3.0?
