[Amazon.ca] Touch kitchen faucet lightning deal

I had this in my wish list, just went on a lightning deal sale that's all time low, and also has a $10 off coupon which brings it to an all time atl.

Reason: removed link because Amazon 3rd party seller doesn't have enough lifetime ratings

I would never buy off brand faucets, either it stops working, leaks and wrecks everything, or a nightmare to fix if it can he fixed at all

I bought a industrial looking no name off Amazon a few years back, flow got progressively worse over the span of a year. They wouldn't replace it, and wanted me to disassemble it and start trying to replace parts and troubleshoot it. I didn't want to go through that hassel, it's hard enough to install the damn thing in the first place, let alone uninstall it, take it apart and reinstall it. My next faucet was from Costco, its been 5 year and going strong still.

Needless to say, I completely agree with you

My house came with a no name faucet and it was impossible to find parts. I posted pictures on a plumbing forum and members who were professional plumbers were like it could be this or that.

Btw. This is a great site to troubleshoot plumbing issues.

These cheap Chinese brands are never meant to be repaired. Much like fast fashion, replace and dispose. Don't ever expect much from cheap hardware.

Personally, I'd be embarrassed to have guests over if I used these faucets at home.

They're much more expensive, but for a reason - you get what you pay for. Considering it's something you use every single day, better to stick with the brand names.

We've had a Delta Touch2O Pilar faucet for just a hair over a decade. It's had issues but Delta stood behind their product and mailed replacement parts no questions asked. And, yes, it costed us a touch over $300 back then.
I upvote RFDers who are respectful and helpful

Delta, Moen, American Standard, Pfister, Grohe. Have personal (good) experience with the first 3, but likely wouldn't have any reservations regarding buying a faucet from the other brands if I liked it enough. Not an exhaustive list by any means either - just the ones that come to mind / which I generally would trust.

Gotta trust the reliable brands, in a pinch you just go to home hardware, Rona home depot lowest etc and they got parts from the mfg. And it's usually all free. Moen pfister etc

Completely agree with you. Bought a Moen kitchen faucet 23 years ago when I bought my home. last year it started leaking ever so slightly underneath the main body, where the main supply lines come out of. I send them a picture and they quickly offered me 4 different models (similarly priced to my original one) to chose from for replacement faucet at no cost. I asked if I can choose something more expensive and nicer, and they were very accommodating, and I chose one which was about $150 more at HD than the ones they were offering me, and they had no issue upgrading my replacement faucet for a small "processing" fee of about $50. I think it was fair and pretty painless.

When I bought the home (23 years ago) the smaller bathrooms had some old single handle Delta faucets. NO idea how long they had been there, but a few years later both faucets got very difficult to open and close, contacted Delta and they Delta sent me new cartridges. But when that did not fix the problem, they sent me 2 identical looking new faucets (and I was not even the original owner, had no idea when they were purchased).

I did a huge bathroom gut/remodel a few years back on one of my bathrooms and installed all Pfister fixtures (faucets, shower head, mixing valves, diverter valves, hand shower, etc...). Earlier this year, the tub spout lever which you pull to switch from spout to shower, just popped off (threads corroded). And the diverter valve (to switch from overhead shower to handheld shower handle) developed a small leak between the 2 sides (so even though you'd switch to overhead shower, the handheld unit would have a small trickle - and vice versa). And the little plastic nipples on the handheld shower handle started to get brittle - no longer soft, due to the water hardness. Sent them an email with a description of the issues, and within 2 weeks, I had a new tub spout, new handheld shower handle, and a new cartridge with all the new required o-rings for the diverter valve.

I also stick with name brands. Buy them once, and get a "lifetime" of use out of them. Will never need to buy a new one.

Best advice. When I was a new homeowner, I bought a really cool looking one on amazon. After much deliberation, knowing that the exact same item can have many different quality levels even though its all made in China, I still took the plunge. Seemed to have quality parts, but after a year or two, some part gave and leaked hotwater all over. Luckily, somebody was home and managed to catch it before the REALLY REALLY expensive damage came in like redoing flooring, drywall, etc.... Just not worth it.... either spend a couple hundred more and buy that one you really like with piece of mind, or just pick another style from another brand....

Totally agreed. I would never buy no-name stuffs for my kitchen to risk water leaking.
