[Amazon.ca] TP-Link AC1900 Smart WiFi Router [75.01$]

TP-Link AC1900 Smart WiFi Router - High Speed MU- MIMO Router, Dual Band, Gigabit, VPN Server, Beamforming, Smart Connect (Archer A9) .
All time low according to k**pa. I had it for an alert for a price of 80$, so this is better.
It's not a wifi 6 router. But for the price, you get their mutliple stream tech, the increased security (with possibility to use a vpn, a must) and a better wifi coverage. I never found a tplink wifi6 router for less than 100$, so there's that too.

Here is a link to tplink with the info:

How's this compare with Archer C80? I bought one from Costco for $70 and it solved all of my range issues experienced from Rogers 2-in-1 hardware. C80 has 4 external (gigantic) antennas. This one has 3x External, 1x Internal so I wonder what difference that makes.

However, I'd like VPN and USB port which are missing from the C80 and included here. I'd be willing to try this if the range is as good as the C80.

Anyone know how range is measured in routers?

I had previously heard that this was a good router so I went and checked some of the bad reviews.
A lot of the complaints appear to be configuration related.

This looks like an upgraded C7 Archer and from the manual I see it does support WPA3.

Personally, I moved away from the Archer because I needed to be able to configure the router better than was available.

Have you seen since most companies are selling "mesh" systems their wifi extenders are no longer for available? frankly my 7 year old router + extender works great
Zoomer: 1 account for family and planning to leave for good in 2023

Wifi range extenders are rubbish anyways in my experience.

I bought the AC1750 C7 model. It's terrible, drops the 5G connection constantly. Luckily it was DD-WRT compatible and that fixed it. So if this modem is not WRT compatible then I wouldn't recommend

Price is now $89.99. I was thinking about buying this at $75.01 but not at $89.99.

I'm using this router in repeater mode. It's quite solid.

Move on. Wifi 6 is here, and it's amazing. Got the Archer AX10, with only a 75 mbps plan I was able to DL at max speed (10 mb/s) while wife and I were streaming 2 separate youtube at 1080p with no lag. Previous AC1750 wifi router def not able to do that.
